St. Croix Board Of Elections Recall Petitions Filed January 12; Community Has 60 Days To Collect Signatures

January 14, 2012

Those who are serious about recalling members of the St. Croix Board of Elections can now join an organized movement to make that happen.

Recall Petitions for Election Board members Ana L. “Anita” Davila, Carmen Golden, Dodson K. James, Lisa Harris-Moorhead, Esq., Rupert W. Ross, Jr., and Raymond J. Williams were submitted to the Election office the afternoon of Thursday, January 12, 2012. Effective January 12, 2012, recall petition circulation began. The community has 60 days, from the January 12th submittal date, to collect signatures.

Recall organizers are holding a signature drive and information session Monday, January 16, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in front of the Yuca Headquarters, Buddhoe Park, in Frederiksted.

In accordance with the Revised Organic Act of 1954, these election board members have been charged with lack of fitness for public office, neglect of duty, and corruption. We have 60 days, from the January 12th submittal date, to collect signatures.

Attached at the end of this article are a copy of the press release related to this initiative and the instructions for those who are interested in circulating a petition. Circulators are urged to read the instruction sheet as it will be critical that petitions meet all guidelines and leave no room for disqualification once submitted.

Organizers are awaiting an official letter from Supervisor of Elections John Abramson with the actual number of signatures required for each member, as well as the deadline for collecting signatures. However, petition circulation has begun and the 60-day mark is on or about March 12, 2012. Recall Petitions can be viewed and downloaded at the end of this article.

Why do you think the recall is not going anywhere? Whistling in the dark, are you? Or are the machines for the recall election fixed? Well the recall is organizing into a well oiled machine. And from now on we are going to launch a massive campaign to videotape every vote with a collection of recall cellular phones. And we are going to charter a cruise ship with tickets and it’s readies for election day so that we can get paper ballots. And if that doesn’t work, we will take 3 of them in Stx out in November. Goodbye Dodson Carmen and Anita. Balance of power upset. So that Phillips will not reprogram the next election. Do you think it is coincidence that FBI raided Channel 12? They caught One small fish , jaws tomorrow. Corruption of elections cannot continue. Why do you think the territory is collapsing? Next Castro will die and st Thomas tourism will disappear. And if Gingrich is elected welfare and food stamps disappear. Time to elect leaders with vision.

    What happened at Channel 12?

  4. ! on January 22, 2012 at 11:33 am

Why are they trying to block transparent elections???

I think you already know the answer,”!”. Whoever can guarantee an election result is very powerful and can become very rich. All they need to do is convince enough enablers to give them the appearance of legitimacy then sit back and pull the strings. Why the BOE members are allowing themselves to be used this way is something I will never understand. But I can no longer deny the obvious.

It’s great that you have come to realize that something is indeed wrong. There is hope after all. I encourage those who may have supported this administration to become engaged in righting the wrong’s of this administration. Dismiss the smoke and mirrors, divisivss tactics and fear mongering. Many who speak out against the administration are simply trying to avoid the utter chaos you see the VI enveloped in. Thank you for the change of heart! Pass it on…

@ All who’s ready to help stop the continued destruction of the Virgin Islands.

What’s the current mind set of those who want to stop you? It’s always a good idea to listen to the view points of an opponent. I got a chance to listen to two talk shows yesterday on 970 am.

The overwhelming mantra you came away with in regards to the administration’s response to the closing of HOVENSA and the long list of economic failures was this. Let’s be positive about the whole situation and the public should refrain from ALL negative comments whether it’s via conversation, or talk shows’ on the situation. The administration and the senate are in no way responsible for these failures, but they are the only ones that can correct these serious issues.

On Ann Golden’s show her guest was Bronco Hendricks. Mr. Hendricks stated that he does not want to be around anyone with “negative comments much less hear their points whether it be in person or on talk shows”. He took a position that the administration is not responsible for economic mess the Territory finds itself. You all (the public) needs to be positive and continue to put your “TRUST” in the De Jongh administration to pull the Territory out of these challenges.

On Abdul Ali’s show his guest was Labor commissioner Albert Bryan and a young lady whose name I did not catch. The young lady stated that there is a group organizing a recall and that is there right, but she thinks the community needs to regroup and concentrate (do not put energy or support into the recall) on dealing with the current crisis. You have to wonder about these people sometimes. Albert Bryan maintained a point that even if the sitting governor was to be replaced that it would take time for his successor to make any head way in regards to correcting the economic situation. In other word’s the community needs to be positive, quiet, and leave his boss alone as we bear three more years of the best governor the VI has had. While describing the economic impact of HOVENSA’s closure Bryan made a statement that really stuck out. “With the loss of HOVENSA the island will lose much of its airlift capacity because HOVENSA brought 100’s of workers to the Territory on a monthly basis”. Really?!.. This from the person tasked with job creation and protection for the VI’s work force. Here’s the kicker. From stage right enters Abdul Ali to tell Albert Bryan that “we need people like you in there (the senate or other elected office) to turn things around”.

Pay attention people. And remember…don’t blink.

SIGN TH PETITIONS! They expect you to do nothing but talk.

  10. Best Reason to Sign the Petition? on January 23, 2012 at 3:42 pm

Greg Francis running for governor, with DeJongh running the puppet strings, probably as PFA director, keeping on all his highly paid commissioners, and continuing to fire anyone who backed anyone but him. We have to get election reform in now…..

  11. Anonymous on January 23, 2012 at 5:49 pm

Greg is an idiot, not only is he twiddle-DUMB he is twiddle-DUMBER. De Jongh has made proper A$$ out of him.

  12. Anonymous on January 23, 2012 at 5:50 pm

Speaking of making proper A$$, de Jongh also has made a big joke out of Vera Falu. All of her credibility has been tarnished.

The recall petitions headquarters opened today, but many people don’t yet know where we are. We are located next to ABC Janitors in Gallows Bay. It’s on the road to the right of No Bones Cafe going north toward the Kidney Center. Our doors will be opened daily from 10 am to 7 pm. Help make this recall a success so that we can begin to correct the series of very bad turns our government has made. Please tell others where we are located.

Notice daily news has filed suit against the senate’s secret meeting with GERS but not against the governor’s secret meeting with the same senate. CIF, how obvious can the media at their unwielding and biased support of this monster? The case starts today in federal court.

I will sign any recall petition against any and any official.

  16. ! on January 25, 2012 at 5:24 am

I think the recall scared the senators into voting against the crook.

  17. rainman on January 25, 2012 at 8:27 am

i dont think the recall scared them,if it did they would never close the doors to what by law is an open senate session, they would stop saying thy will vote how ever they want.
the petition is a great thing , in fact one of the best things to happen this year, when i signed it i noticed the diversity of the people collecting the signatures and the solidarity of purpose, its a great step, so sign it.

  18. Anonymous on January 25, 2012 at 8:52 am

They don’t care. As long as those voting machines exist, they will use them to get back in. They don’t need anyone’s vote to get back in, they have machines.

  19. ! on January 25, 2012 at 7:30 pm

Yes, but once you are recalled you are not eligible to run in a recall election if they met the two thirds threshold. And any attempt to recall that looks organized and successful will make senators pause. Worse if they get the votes. Senators will tremble. Remember, the governor cannot fire a senator. But we can. If not now, then the bad publicity will kill them in 10 months.
By the way, do you notice Usie Rat trying to suck back up to the voters? Too little too late. He has consorting with our version of the ton ton macoutes in Haiti under papa doc

Overthrow the governor. Grow some cahones, Senators. Meanwhile, the Board of Elections Meets on Wednesday
