Take Cover, Take Precautions As Hurricane Earl Swipes The Territory

August 30, 2010

hurricaneIf the forecasters are correct, the brunt of Hurricane Earl will stay north of the Virgin Islands, but high winds and heavy rains are expected to be with us through the day on Wednesday.

At 1:30 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service reported that the eye of the storm was located at  19.0°N 64.0°W, just northeast of the British Virgin Islands, moving WNW at 15 MPH and packing maximum sustained winds of 125 MPH.

The Category 3 storm is expected to intensify to a Category 4 as it moves away from the Territory and into the Gulf of Mexico.

High winds and frequent heavy rain is expected and at the time of this report, Puerto Rico was already starting to feel tropical storm force winds as the eye moved closer. Stay tuned to local media for the latest updates on the storm.

  1. Gov No Security on September 1, 2010 at 6:47 am

de Jongh is a big fake and liar!

What ever happened to the big hype about the governor needing security?

The governor was seen yesterday driving alone with his son. No security with him what so ever! He was wearing the same cloths that he had on during his televised press conference.

He drove right by residents like if nothing never happened. Life is nothing but a big game to de Jongh. Watching him yesterday really shows how cold this man is to get on air like everything was so cool while at the same time there were families still without electricity.

Next Saturday September 11 de Jongh has to be voted out of office. I have a strange feeling de Jongh is hoping he’s voted out. He doesn’t respond like a person seeking reelection.

de Jongh response to Hurricane Earl was a flop and families continue to suffer.

    @ Insider,

Thanks so much for your updates. I finally got through to STX by phone yesterday but the radio stations are still down at least on the internet.

Interesting there’s nothing being reported out here about any fatalities or even serious injuries.

    Take care of yourself.

Good morning to all my CIF people. We all survived the storm in one piece, although some of us are waiting for our lights to come back on. We really need to give God thanks for protecting us.

    @ ‘Insider’:

Sorry to hear of the casualties and injuries. Was listening to’Brownie’
on WSTA yesterday and he didin’t mention any of that.Could be he did
not know of any at the time.

Don’t worry about the governor and his not giving a hoot about the safety, shelter and well-being of the people,as they will be taking care of business in a few short days.

@ ‘Windy City’ and ‘T’,thanks for the many updates. From the sound of things it appears as if things could have been worse…had the storm
made a direct hit.Let’s hope Fiona will be a non-event and thigs will
return to normal in time for the primary.

    Best wishes to all.

    @ SC & Windy
Yeah I didnt think the gov. would just make a simple phone call and see if any bodies were picked up during or just after the storm. He really has no excuse, ALL of them were DOA, so it was just a matter of a phone call to the Coroners office. Well electricity is coming back slowly but surely. Its crazy, but if the trees were trimmed like they are supposed to be prior to hurricane season the restoration effor would not be so grave. Some of these trees are standing six foot OVER the poles. Some of the trees are so intertwined with the wires you cant tell which is which!. All these contracts the Gov. and his administration is giving out and they cant give one to a company whose sole job is to go around the islands and cut trees back from the lines. It would make life so much more simple in the event of a storm. I guess people cant get too much of a kick back from that so it is not worth it to give out the contract.
