And The Rat Takes The Cheese…

And you thought he wasn't going to show!

And you thought he wasn't going to show!

There was a surprise guest at Thursday’s debates after all.

And Sen. Adlah “Foncie” Donastorg had the perfect welcome for him.

The empty chair next to candidate James “Jimmy” O’Bryan was a conspicuous reminder that one candidate, the incumbent John P. deJongh, Jr., didn’t bother to show for the public forum. (Nice touch, by the way, leaving the empty chair on stage.)

About halfway through the session, as Donastorg approached the mike to answer a question, a commotion came over the crowd when a huge rat took the stage with the debaters.

And just to show that he’s got wit as well as political savvy, Donastorg stepped into the fray.

    @ SC-
Sorry it took so long to respond.
I myself live in the country. Here you can still see down trees and LoTTs of debre. For the most part the water is gone. Current is still out in Tutu and in many other places. Im sure dejonghs current was up in no time. (If he even lost power.) Its a crying shame to see people holding their heads and bawling about spoiled food and no power. If this is what people consider Leadership I need to get the heck onto the mainland. This is one evil demand and I will be one of the 1st Casting MY vote on Sept.11th to kick this Wolf OUT!!

    @ ‘Island-Mommy:

There are certain things that the Public Works department could and should have done at the onset of the hurricane season…such as the
trimming of trees and the flushing of drains. That,of course,is for public property as homeowners are responsible for their own clean up/
    maintenance.

Had the government done their part(and from what I’m hearing they didn’t)the amount of debris that now litters the place would have been far less.

Let’s hope electricity is restored island-wide by the weekend and nothing hinders the primary election which is only 8 days off.

    @ SC-

Amen to that! We NEED change and we need it BAD. Its as if were truly becoming a 3rd world country down here. So much has changed since the election of 2006. So sad to see someone ONLY get elected for his personal benefits and interests. The common person isnt even on his list of concerns. Hopefully we all come to our senses before Sept.11th. As you said its ONLY 8 days away. Gheesh!
