If there’s a more direct way to ask the question, we don’t know what it is.

In a radio address today, Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Sen. Adlah “Foncie” Donastorg challenged Gov. John P. deJongh, Jr., to answer the question with a truthful answer

Donastorg posed the question in a statement that included his first public comments on the domestic violence charges he is facing; charges he was quite clear he believes are a “political prosecution”  demonstrating an “horrific abuse of power” and created by the deJongh administration to  damage his credibility as a candidate in the upcoming election.

Donastorg said he learned of the charges shortly after notifying federal officials of deJongh’s misuse of $490,000 in public funds to enhance his private residence at Estate Mafolie on St. Thomas. He said that he was informed that a police report on the alleged incident had been filed on St. Croix, and that he went voluntarily to see what the report was about and why the complaint was filed on St. Croix.

Donastorg validated beliefs that have been swirling in the public domain about deJongh operatives who he said were complicit in fabricating the charges against him.

Shortly after he was charged, the alleged “victim” in the episode began to make public statements, through her attorney, that the incidents as reported were not true; that she had been offered a bribe for her testimony; that she had pointed out discrepancies in her statement to police and the statement that was eventually submitted to the court; and ultimately, that she will not testify against Donastorg – a situation that has prompted the charging parties to bring in an “expert” witness to testify about the behavior of “abused” individuals.

“I am the man John deJongh fears the most” – Donastorg

Donastorg addressed the attempted bribery allegation in his statement, saying that $150,000 had been offered to secure the witness testimony against him. He went on to say the even the choice of judge to hear the case, newly appointed Superior Court Judge Adam Christian, was further proof of the political conspiracy against him.

Donastorg went on to sharply criticize deJongh for operating a negative campaign, in opposition to radio ads the governor is broadcasting declaring his intention not to do so; and also challenged him to instruct his “operatives” to shut down websites believed to be operated by Administration supporters that have most recently targeted the 16-year-old son of a radio host who supports an opposition candidate.

With less than three weeks until the Democratic Primary election on September 11, Donastorg strongly asserts his innocence and said that the vehement opposition to his candidacy delivers a critical message about the strength of his campaign.

EVERY parent has its cross to bare when raising their CHILDREN. To take people’s children and USE them politically is WRONG. To say “oh, wow Norman can throw blows but cant take them.” Is a complete joke! KEEP THE CHILDREN OUT OF POLITICS!!! Be a man/woman and stand on your own two feet and FIND FACTS TO USE TWARDS THE CANDIDATES YOUR RUNNING UP AGAINST!

Ahwoooooooooooooooooooooow! the wolves are howling! they NEED help!

CIF, we know that you’re biassed towards Senator Donastorg, but don’t allow him to lie to the public and think he’s going to get away with it. If Donastorg went public with DeJongh’s home improvement scandal in the summer of 2009 and got charged in March of 2010 for a January 2010 altercation, how could he possibly have learned of the charges “shortly after” his Mafoligate allegations? Lies, Lies, Lies.

I would lose in the primary if I were you Senator Donastorg. You cannot beat Mapp making public statements that are false and loaded with theatrical language.

    @ K,

What’s wrong, is de Jongh feeling the pressure of the Donastorg/Baptiste team? What’s the matter, is de Jongh’s campaign falling apart. What is the problem is de Jongh’s reelection bid struggling for dear life.

Tis good! I can’t wiat until you monster bawl in pain on primary night.

  6. Anonymous on August 27, 2010 at 2:29 pm

I think it was shortly after reporting from the IG, not after the initial report.

  7. K on August 27, 2010 at 2:53 pm

To Anon @ 2:29, thanks for factual timeline and not a fabricated one to make a press release misleading as the one in question apparently did.

  8. Anonymous on August 27, 2010 at 3:12 pm

Not one thing is misleading about the press release. De Jongh set up Donastorg and it has backfired! Ha! Ha!

  9. Anonymous on August 27, 2010 at 3:55 pm

Even if DeJongh set up Donastorg, there’s noexcuse for Donastorg to lie in his press release. It’s this type of lying that turns people of from these sleazy type of politicians.

  10. Anonymous on August 27, 2010 at 4:13 pm

There was no LIE……….de Jongh set up Donastorg because Donastorg revealed Mafoliegate to the public, causing the Federal IG to investigate, causing FEDS to tell de Jongh he misused public fundw and to put it back, in which de Jongh was very rude, arrogant and disrespectful in his response and refused to pay back the money he stole AND now John de Jongh is under Fedearal Indictment!

Stop being dense Lesley, your man de Jongh will lose the election and is on his way to PRISON.

  11. Anonymous on August 27, 2010 at 5:01 pm

The most recent lie occured when Donastorg said in his radio rant that he learned of his assault charges shortly after he revealed DeJongh’s misuse of federal funds.

Since when is March shorthly after July?

It is not and as a result, Donastorg LIED about the timeline.

  12. Vegan on August 27, 2010 at 5:13 pm

Anon@3:45 Are you kidding?!? “even if deJongh set up Donastorg.. No excuse for Donastorg..”? Pub-lease.

DeJongh turned of a lot of his former supporters including me, by what he did with the fence and then compounded it by what he did to AFD. Yes, I confess, I voted for him in 2002.

And I am especially sickened by the Justice Department and the Court. Then the B Board of elections confirmed what we already know: both the Board and the courts are compromised. Hear the atty for the Board bragging that this case needs to go to superior court because they know it will not be heard. Thank Gid for the Feds or we would have no recourse and nonchecks.

  13. Anonymous on August 27, 2010 at 5:19 pm

Anonymous 5:01, All of you pathetic de Jongh supporters are pure comic relief. Now you all are fighting over straws because the election is out of your reach. BAAAAAAA…..HAAAA, HAAAAAA, HAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Anonymous on August 27, 2010 at 5:56 pm

    @ANONYMOUS 5:01,

Where in your crazy mind did Donastorg lied about any timeline? LOL…..de Jongh has his supports high on something. And whatever it is it’s bad for your health.

  15. Anonymous on August 27, 2010 at 7:34 pm

Let’s not forget the promise to negotiate with Chavez. What a line that was by Donastorg last nite. Talk about saying anything to get a vote.

  16. Island~Mommy on August 27, 2010 at 7:40 pm

Donastorg/Baptiste 2010! **Your Choice For Change!!**

  17. Island~Mommy on August 27, 2010 at 7:46 pm

    @anon 7:34-

    dejongh will buy any vote!!

The Thing is some of those people still taking the $money$ MIGHT give you the vote that you paid for.

BUT, when those that take it and back stab you and vote for whom they feel belongs in government house. Then what? More wasted $money$!

It will be good! Cause ayo dont belong there again. Look at what dejongh has accomplished so far in 4 years. NOTHING!!
    What a Joke!

  18. Anonymous on August 27, 2010 at 7:56 pm

Anonymous 7:34, why not negotiate with Chavez? Quite a few US States have done it. If it will lower our gas cost and WAPA bills I’m all for it. Since the US is allowing their states to do it they will give us a chance to do it also.

Great idea Donastorg………at least someone is thinking.

  19. Anonymous on August 27, 2010 at 8:45 pm

    Confirm or Deny——deJongh!

Do you have “knowledge” of an indictment?

I for one would not like having an audit report from the feds hanging around my neck!

I for one would not have insulted, nor would I have disrespected Interior.

    Have you lost your marbles?

  20. Bring back the 70s on August 27, 2010 at 11:16 pm

Which individual states have negotiated with Chavez for lower oil prices?
