Stay The Course; Stand Your Ground; Save Your Tears!
Commentary By CIF President Michael J. Springer, Jr.
Outraged? Yes. Disgusted? Oh, yes.
Surprised? No.
And no one else should be either.
The latest ammunition in the arsenal of campaign misconduct fired by the deJongh Administration has been the creation of several websites designed to malign those who pose a threat to them and the good life they’re living on the backs of everyday Virgin Islanders.
Until last week, their targets have been adults – people who have put themselves in the public arena through their activism and who are openly in opposition to this dogmatic regime – and since propaganda only grows legs when people acknowledge it, we’ve pretty much ignored it.
But last week, when the 16-year-old son of a radio talk show host became the front page news on one of these sites, our disgust, and the shock and horror of the community, made a response necessary.
No one who heard to the agonized voice of Norma Pickard-Samuel on Saturday can fail to understand the gut-wrenching pain caused by this latest sucker-punch from the Administration. And yes, this is the work of the Administration although in this endeavor, like so many others, their websites are cloaked in “anonymity” since they don’t have the guts to be up front in their internet-based attacks.
So don’t expect an apology from this Governor for this despicable display.
This Governor whose ads denounce “negative campaigning;” this Governor who claims to have the interest of our youth “especially our young men” at the top of his mind; this Governor who manipulates the judiciary through his puppet of an Attorney General to level questionable charges against his opponents and delay resolution of same; this Governor who only acknowledged the crime epidemic after a tourist was killed at Coki Point; this Governor who flatly refuses to return $490,000 of our money to the Treasury that he used to renovate Estate Mafolie; this Governor who mortgaged our future through the Diageo deal and reckless borrowing after creating the illusion of Government calamity if his demand was not met; need we go on?
And let us not leave out the most recent insult to our collective intelligence, the deluded, scripted rhetoric of one Laurie Milliner, braying on about This Governor and actually expecting us to believe she paid for the time.
We have no doubt that the cabal on Government Hill got a good laugh out of the pain they caused this week. We’re sure they enjoyed it, and probably believe they’ve struck a crippling blow to those who would dare speak and act against them.
And, trust us; the urge to respond in kind is strong – because God knows that if they want to open this Pandora’s Box, we’ve got a key. However, we recognize that at its core, this is merely one more attempt to distract us from the mission at hand.
And arrogance makes weak strategy; so now we shall see the results.
You don’t kill the message by attacking the messenger. You can’t stop a revolution by assassinating the revolutionaries. Do they know nothing of history?
And while this was a disturbing episode in an election season that promises to plumb new depths, it’s time to move on.
The primary election is in less than three weeks. John deJongh and all of those who support him must be removed. This is not governance; it is tyranny. This is not leadership; it’s coercion.
So Norma, save your tears. They are wasted on such as these.
But know that the blow intended to weaken and silence you has strengthened and made more steadfast those who will not see this reign continue and added more heat to the bonfire of change.
The primary election is in less than three weeks.
Let the final blow be struck at the polls.

@Anita
It doesn’t matter who’s skin she got under. Go after adults. Not 16 year old children.
I am not concerened about the primary. I know that the Donastorg/Baptiste team will be victorious. Mapp and de Jongh continue to fight amongst yourself.
While everyone is fighting, what is so funny is that God has already declared a winner for the primary and general election.
Adlah ‘Foncie’ Donastorg and Samuel Baptiste are the next Governor and Lieutenant Governor of the United States Virgin Islands, As Victory is Proclaimed in the Name of Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Would our LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST really bless a candidate that has a DOMESTIC VIOLENCE charge against a 19yr. old woman ??? Your’e sleeping through the revolution…….
Keeping it real !!!
The answer to the previous question is NO!!!!!
If teachers use their own money to buy supplies, then it is the EDUCATION commissioner who should be fired.
All the millions that go to education are just paying salaries and not going to the children….we have the highest per child percentage in the entire US and the children don’t get it but we have an education administration (without the teachers) that make huge salaries and do nothing.
Time to layoff the do nothings in all the government NOW.
@Get Real
A charge is an accusation. Considering all that has been done in this instance a charge may be a plot to solicit just the response which you are promoting. People are charged and exonerated everyday. Our LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST was himself charged and executed. Lets keep it real for real.
how come de jonghs campaign website is not listed om CIF with the other candidates
@ Anon at 10:30
lolol.
Wait on that one. okay?
To all the Anonymous who are alleging that I am Roan Creque, keep Roan out of this, I am not him.
Roan cut your bull and stop passing Luz info about Mapp. We don’t need you coming St. Croix telling we nothing we done know bout Mapp. Yo trying to cut too many deals you Judas.
de Jongh leave Roan Creque alone.
Who is Roan Creque?
MARIO, IF THE GOVERNOR DOES THAT ARE YOU GOING TO ADMIT THAT YOU ARE AN ARMED ROBBER?
Maybe the creator of one of those sites felt like she wasn’t protected as a child by her own parents. Can I hear contributing to the deliquency of a minor while attending Wayne Aspinall School?
I just came from browsing the de Jongh ‘hate all candidates and their supporters website’. And I must say that I was EXTREMELY BORED! Lesley, you could have done better than that. Not an original bone in your dirty body. Is there?
When will the national media come to the VI? We have a lot to share:
Leave Mario alone. Deal with the issues.
@Student Because, to us, our issues seem dire – but on a national level, they’re pretty small potatoes.
Unfortunately thats true we are nobody unless it affects someone else. We must address our issues they won’t. The VI has as many people as an NCAA football stadium when its not a big national game.
Join at the lips these two thieves were made for each other. So much for family value and indecent exposure.
John de Jongh, Jr. the next time you go on a rampage talking about other people children and how to be a good parent maybe you should follow your own advice.
By-the-way, people scan through the other photos attached to this one…you should get damn mad to know what prompted the “big nasty kiss”. Yes the two thieves kissed each other during a welcome home ceremony when Cecile returned from one of her public funded spending sprees courtesy of the Rwanda Project.
Norma we got yo back and de Jongh will pay a hi price for attacking you and your family.
The chickens are coming home to roost.
