James/Smith Kickoff Campaign Sunday In Frederiksted
Gubernatorial candidate Gerard "Luz" James II and running mate Glen Smith kick off their campaign at Buddhoe Park Sunday.
Former Lt. Governor Gerard “Luz” James II kicked off his campaign for Governor of the Virgin Islands with a rally Sunday in Frederiksted and revealed that his search for a running mate was not an easy one.
An estimated 250 people attended the rally for the Democratic candidate and his running mate, Democratic National Committeeman Glen Smith.
James said when he decided to run that individuals he approached about running on his ticket were reluctant to do so. He said it “took the Democratic National Committeeman to step up,” and join him in the race for Government House.
About 250 people attended the Sunday afternoon kickoff rally.
The James/Smith ticket joins the deJongh/Francis and Donastorg/Baptiste teams in those who have formally announced their entry into the September 11 Democratic Primary.
Luz if you know what is good for you. You better lay off of Mapp. You’re mad because your anouncement was a FLOP. That is no fault of Mapp. We told you that St Croix is Mapp territory. But you are hard of hearing.
James/Smith does not need Ken Mapp or none of his supporters. Luz will win the primary and then he is coming after Mapp in the general. We will see who is a crucian and who is not then.
Let’s see who is a Virgin Islander instead. We are still one Territory and any candidate who wants to win can’t exclude or favor anyone.
The Donastorg Baptiste camp warmly welcomes Ken Mapp and all his supporters to vote for our team in the primary. We hope the lonely Luz/Smith supporter will decide to join us too.
Luz will crush Mapp in the general election!
There is no way Donastorg will win the primary because Mapp is too selfish to come forward in public and tell his supporters to vote Donastorg in the primary.
As a matter of fact, the Luz camp is already aware that Mapp is been going around telling voters not to vote for Donastorg or Luz.
Mapp is no good and Luz will teach him a listen in November.
Vote Luz/Smith because “We Can Do It Better”!
Why should any candidate endorse the other one? It would be in Mapp best interest to be the only crucian in the General Election. And if Mapp publicly endorses Donastorg then Mapp would be running against someone he endorsed. That is stupid.
Luz your campaign is a joke and leave Mapp out of it.
There are more real crucian natives on st croix than them islandman. Luz will take all the native votes. This is why Mapp don’t want him in the general.

Luz hate island people that’s why he standing against them in the constitution. Wait and see how he going to clean up these Virgin Islands and send them back way they from. The desperation is clear as ever. Donastorg is trying to use CIF to pit other candidates and their supporters against each other. Unfortunately, CIF doesn’t have that kind of impact and more importantly the people can see through this pathetic tactic. The people will vote for who they want to Senator Donastorg. Vote James/Smith 2010 on primary day! We are the best team to help rid the VI of all island people. Luz James and Glen Smith has demonstrated our commitment to ridding the VI of the island people and their off springs.
de Jongh can sit up in government house and call the Eastern island people Island Man. Luz will put his words to action and put it in the constitution. It will either be Luz or de Jongh in January 2011.
