THOUSANDS – Yes, Thousands March Into History On St. Thomas As Virgin Islanders Say “Enough”
3,000+ Virgin Islanders Take The Streets Of St. Thomas By Storm With A Clear Message: "Take Back Our Government - Take Back Our Islands"
Pay no mind to the mainstream media and their negligently inaccurate reports on what happened on Saturday on St. Thomas.
We were all there – more than 3,000 strong – in a display not seen in modern times.
We can’t describe the energy, the passion, the strength so we will let the photos speak.
The theme of the march and rally was “Unity, Accountability and Social Justice,” and started at Market Square and ended at the Emancipation Garden. Boatloads of participants came from St. John and St. Croix, and countless other locations that were represented in the massive crowd.
If there is one image that exemplifies the power of this day, it is this electrifying moment in time on the steps of the Virgin Islands Legislature. If you don’t feel a shiver down your spine at what this represents, then you don’t understand what it all meant.
Tell us what you saw, what you heard, how it felt, what it meant.
To preserve this moment in history, CIF has created a permanent page on this website to commemorate this event. For all the photos from our participation, visit Snapshots Of History.
If you would like to send a photo for inclusion on this permanent page, please email it to “admin@cruciansinfocus.com.“

We have laws in the Virgin ISlands code to get rid of these criminals. How come we don’t use them?
For all the nay sayers who doubted that Mapp can pull this election off to his victory should have been to the Drive in at Grove Place. By between 6:30 and 7:00 pm at least two thousand plus was in attendance. dewolf is about to make an exit in November 2010 complements of Mapp.
de Jongh is gone in SEPTEMBER! That is the problem with Mapp and his supporters. They are uniting the people to defeat de Jongh in SEPTEMBER. Very selfish approach to dealing with a very serious crisis of rmoving the dictator in SEPTEMBER.
Mapp better beware that voters are paying close attention to his lack of action and lack of interest in solving the issue of de Jongh in SEPTEMBER. Mapp has a high price to pay for his selfishness and will be held ACCOUNTABLE by the voters in November when Donastorg comes storming out of the PRIMARY.
It is so obvious that Mapp is a very selfish old man.
They are NOT uniting the people to defeat de Jongh in SEPTEMBER because they don’t want to face DONASTORG in November.
At fifty four are we now considered old? Mapp has many years to go and he still young and kicking. Isn’t Foncie close to fifty, but the difference is wisdom and humility.
Mapp is still in the race whether it’s over in September or not, remember he is not in the primary and dejongh could still squeeze out so we got to be ready for that.
Is the Mapp campaign prepared to support Donastorg in September?
What are Mapps credentials to be governor? What are Foncie’s credentials? What are their stances on crime, education and our economy that seems to fall apart all the time? Can we start asking the right questions? How about how these supposing candidates feel about our constitution what can be done to get a real constitution? How about how we can depend less on the federal gov’t and get some real industries here that won’t take advantage of the fact that the current gov’t is corrupt and take millions from our economy and only give us a couple of jobs. How about asking these questions of our candidates for governor now not when they feel it will be safe to say. They way things are now Defool will control this island whether he wins in the primary or not. I am beginning to feel sorry for the person that happens to beat DeFool in the primary.
Donastorg will defeat deJong in September
I am not a deJongh supporter, and I will never vote for him. I will vote for either Mapp or Donastorg.
On St.Croix, let us be honest, Mapp has consistently pulled the largest crowd. It does not surprise me since Mapp won more votes on St. Croix than deJongh in the 2006 election.
The running mate is the key———for both Mapp and Donastorg.
We can not tolerate Dejongh/Francis for another four years, no way!
Either Mapp or Donastorg will win .. Mapp will pull the biggest crowd on St. Croix , while DOnastorg will pull the largest crowd on stt. We must make sure on the primary we unite and vote for Donastorg in the primary (make sure we get John out) and in the general we vote for our choice . Either Mapp or Donastorg or Nelson.
When it comes to aptitude, Mapp trounces Donastorg. It isn’t even close how much more intelligent Ken is than Foncie. So let’s get that discussion cleared up once and for all OK. Thank You.
OUST DECLONG, GET HIM OUT. LET’S GET RID OF THE WORST OF ALL THE EVILS. I VOTED FOR DECLONG AND HE ATE AND DRANK WITH NON-VIRGIN ISLANDERS. LOOK AT HIS RECORD. I AM SHAME CUZ HE BRING SHAME ON US. I WAS SOOO HAPPY WE MARCHED SO WE CAN SHOW DECLONG WE CAN COME 2GETHER FOR FOREVER.
I voted for him too and never me again .
PEOPLE OF THE VI IT IS TIME WE TRUELY COME TOGETHER TO UNITE MAPP & DONASTORG. THIS TEAM IS THE MOST FEARED BY THE deJONGH CLAN. THE TIME IS NOW,WE MUST STOP FIGHTING EACH OTHER AND ALLOWING FEAR TO DIVIDE THE PEOPLE.(THE VISION FOR A NEW VIRGIN ISLANDS MAPP-DONASTOG)
We don’t want to “just” defeat deWolf. We want to replace him with some one “different”, some one better. The team of Mapp/Donastorg may win the votes but it is a very unappealing choice to get through everyday life and governance for the next four years of their administration. YUK, What it says is that neither of them can find a running mate. He who comes with a great mate will win the race. The people took the dummy LT Gov because they were fooled into believing that deWolf was “Brilliant”, “a Financial Genius”. It will take a true team to do more than win an election. It will take a true team of BRILLIANCE to turn the Virgin Islands around.
People are already leaving the killing fields. Look at the properties for sale on STT. The real estate market has never had this many available properties for purchase.
I will vote for a Donastorg/Mapp.
I feel that Mapp’s plan is to sabatoge the primary so that all of Donastorg supporters will go to him in the general. Mapp, good sources heard your campaign manager talking about this. People aren’t stupid and if that’s the case then de Jongh will get 4 more years.
@ ST,
The real estate market also finds it difficult getting these properties sold. No one is buying.
CRIME, crime and more crime.

We keep getting the government we deserve because we want anybody but so and so. Anybody, but Schenider, anybody but Barshinger, anybody but Rocky, etc. Who are we replacing these individuals with? Where does the long term planning for the Virgin Islands begin? From one election cycle to another it is anybody but.
Given the future that we are facing, what kind of philosophy do we need to embrace positive change for our collective future? What talents do we need in the areas most challenging? Who are those resource people in our community? We have the people amongst us with the solutions to our challenges if they are allowed to do what they know to be in our best interest.
Can we agree to seek people out whose first interest is the community and not themselves? How have they demonstrated their community service? Are they willing to do public service?
Are they willing to appoint/confirm people that have knowledge of the job they will be responsible for? Example: who would you place on the WAPA board? People who have some knowledge of water & energy production or people who will do what you say? What kinds of people do you put on our Coastal Zone Management boards? People that know about our environment and how to guide development as it relates to the co-existence of both? Etc. Who do we have that can be an asset to our community by serving on the Board of Education or the Board of Elections?
Boards and Commissions also make decisions that have negatively affected us because, instead of doing what is in the public’s best interest, decisions are made based on the person who dictates what their personal interest is.
In truly serving the community or providing service to others, our efforts benefit the community at large as well as the individual. Whereas, service to self is just that, only self benefits.
