Defense Atty. Rohn says accuser has already recanted; says she was offered cash to make false charges

By now you know that on Thursday afternoon, Sen. Adlah “Foncie” Donastorg turned himself into Frederiksted police after being charged with domestic violence by the Virgin Islands Justice Department.

The charges stem from an alleged incident in January involving a 19-year-old St. Thomas woman who, oddly enough, was not identified. The specific charges are one count of assault in the third degree, under the V.I. domestic violence statute; one count of aggravated assault and battery; one count of brandishing a deadly weapon (firearm); and one count of using a dangerous weapon (firearm) in the commission of a crime of violence.

Donastorg’s Attorney Lee Rohn called the Justice Department’s insistence on pressing the charges a “travesty” and said the alleged victim has already admitted the charges are false and that she was offered cash to make them.

Rohn said that Donastorg felt “persecuted,”  believes that the motivation for the charges is political and that he intends to fight the charges and bring to justice those involved in this episode.

If even half of the evidence outlined here exists, this incident represents a new low even for this Executive crew. And while we’ve come to expect anything but integrity from this Governor, the possibility that the Justice Department, particularly in the face of so much reported evidence to the contrary, would continue with the charges, should make all of us stop and think.

This is what conspiracy looks like.

There are at least two sides to every story. And eventually, the truth will be told. We can’t begin to predict what the outcome will be but we are anxious to here the Government’s side of this story. There must be something significant that would cause these charges to be filed in the face of what appears to be a pile of exculpatory evidence. Otherwise, the public trust in the judiciary will take yet another hit – a hit it can ill afford in the current climate. So we shall see.

This was not entirely unexpected. The buildup to this action was foretold in a piece some days ago on demmansay.com.

There will be much more to come on this story. We will watch this justice system take its course.

In the meantime, consider this.

In the movie “The Godfather,” Michael Corleone arranges for the slaughter of his enemies while he is standing as godfather at his nephew’s baptism ceremony in a New York church.

Enjoy your cruise, Governor deJongh.

It is a shame Virgin Island people can allow such behavior from our public servant. A womanizer should not be elected to any public office. virgin Island people come on we can do better the than Donastorg. What message are we sending to our daughters and sons if we elect Donastorg. LET HIM HANG. IF HE WAS NOT WITH HER I AM QUITE SURE HE NAME WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CALLED. HE IS A LIAR. DON NOT VOTE FOR HIM.

    Spicy (you idiot),

If we base our vote on choosing a candidate that doesn’t have sexual desires whether it be man or woman. Then we won’t have anyone to vote for Governor or Senate.

The woman recanted her story and STRESSED that Donastorg did nothing wrong to her and there was NO sexual relationship. Either you work for the Daily News (or Daily Crap)or you are embarrassingly clueless.

Keep slandering Donastorg good name. God doesn’t like evil and you people will be dealt with accordingly.

Look the little girl said that he did not hit her, she did not say up to now that they did not have a relationship, so until she dose we must take it that she did have one with him.

  4. Anonymous on March 16, 2010 at 8:57 pm

She said there was NO Relationship. Her attorney was interviewed and said SO. Go back and replay your recordings.

Stop looking for something that isn’t there. Donastorg have all of you running scared.

How many children does the Governor deJongh have?

How many female companions does Governor deJongh have?

How many companions does Kenneth Mapp have?

How many female companions does Nelson have?

If you can answer these questions then you know how stupid and ridiculous the lies and story about Donastorg are.

When you are in a glass house you don’t throw stone. And every inch of these candidates are made of glass.

  6. Anonymous on March 16, 2010 at 9:13 pm

Donastorg can’t get out of this by just saying that others are doing the same thing, all of them need to stop playing with the little girls, it is wrong, for people to say that they want to help then go and do things like this is just wrong, I don’t care who dose it, leave the little girls

  7. Anonymous on March 16, 2010 at 9:19 pm

Those that you claim to be ‘little girls’ are actually by law GROWN WOMAN.

Get your story straight and stop spreading lies.

  8. Anonymous on March 16, 2010 at 9:22 pm

They are little girls to the big men in they 40′s they need to find someone they own age and leave the little girls to the little boys

  9. Anonymous on March 16, 2010 at 9:32 pm

Did someone tell you that your not so little girls want your not so little boys or the not so little boys want the not so little girls?

Maybe you should mind your business because once someone is at legal age they are allowed to seek companion with whom ever they like.

If you feel so strongly about this lobby the Senate to raise the legal age to 25. Would you feel better then?

  10. Anonymous on March 16, 2010 at 10:13 pm

Dose that make it right that the Fonsie are going with these little girls? 18 0r 19 that is the type of person that is to leade me? I don’t think so!

  11. Anonymous on March 16, 2010 at 10:23 pm

Who said Donastorg went with the woman? Can you read, hear or understand. The woman said there was no relationship.

How old are the companions, male or female, of the person you support? Do you know about their sexual history?

    @ Anonymous 9:04, 1st question,
How come nobody outwardly speaks of this, yet everyone knows about this? Wasn’t this type of thing scandal enough stateside to end a few careers?

It amazes me how individuals are so willing to blindly follow their choice of candidate and refuse to acknowledge established facts about that individual. This goes for all of the candidates and their supporters. For example, Foncie? I think its widely known throughout St. Thomas that he loves women, and to a certain extent young women. In fact he doesn’t even try to hide this. Now, I am not “casting a stone” but I say this because some of the posters on here are defending him so vehemently that they are willing to verbally attack others in his defense calling individuals idiots. Whether, the young lady or her counsel denied the existence of a relationship, I think we all can decide for ourselves whether or not they had a relationship.

Now, the question becomes whether he did anything criminal? I would venture to say perhaps not because he would have to be stupid to react in the manner they allege he did when this young lady came to his house. With election right around the corner and a multitude of persons that would want to take him down, I think not.

First, people need to let this story unfolds for itself. I am not going to swear for anyone because politicians have a personal life, but you life becomes public because we the people of the VI elected them. The reason why the senator name was there is because he was there in some sort or fashion. If he was acting in a professional manner as he claims, his name would not have been aligned with such acts. I personally feel that there was a relationship, but it went out of hand. The young lady became emotionally attached because she was in love with a handsome, public figure of status. It became public when she realized it couldnt go too far, but I DONOT think the Senator assulted her physically. Her emotions led her to lie. Again, people are focus on bribe etc, dont get detour by the fact that this relationship was ongoing and its evidently get purposly stirred elsewhere.

  15. Anonymous on March 17, 2010 at 12:44 pm

The era of Mapp de Jongh is over! The twin bandits of the VI is no more. They set the senator up and expected the people to leave his side.

Backlash is a btch. Hope you to two twins in crime are ready for when the Feds pick you up for your trip on Con Air.

  16. Anonymous on March 17, 2010 at 1:10 pm

What happens in someone personal is their problem. Donastorg did not commit a crime. He is the best candidate we have right now.

I will cast my vote for Foncie Donastorg.

These comments are amusing. The girls said many crazy things. She was infatuated, therefore she made a false police report. She said she was bribed and pressured by the police to sign the police report. The bottom-line is none of us was present when the alleged incidents took place. However, the most damaging information is that there is a witness who can testify in court even if she recants her story. The case will not be dropped because a caring citizen transported her to the police station on St.Thomas. Did she contact him immediately or did he suddenly appeared on the scene? He would be able to describe her demeanor and appearance on the day she went initially to the police. Remember too, she called the police while in St.Croix. Who paid for the airfare and how was it paid for? No matter how coached she is before the trial, she’ll be overwhelm in court and the truths will be revealed. The truth shall set her free!

What was she doing in his home? where was his wife and children when this little girl was in his home?

When a so-called victim has to SECURE an attorney to protect her from the government, you know the case is going NO WHERE.

May if you “minions” were running a junta and your “prince” was a dictator, may then.

But if you walk “outside” you will see that the American flag still flies ABOVE OUR HEADS and the American soil still STANDS BELOW OUR FEET.

The Majority of the People will not subject themselves to FOUR-MORE YEARS of tyranny by a Minority.

We are RESOLVED to exercise our American Rights to affect a change in November 2010.

It is Time for A Change and A New Direction.
