Do You Plan To Pay Up Before You Go?

February 10, 2010

Editorial

“Free Speech” has been silenced in the US Virgin Islands, and in this instance, the silence is golden.

Last week marked the end of a dark era in VI Radio, the era of one Roger W. Morgan (if that was his real name) when his ironically named talk show left the air. The departure marked the end of several months of controversy surrounding the radio host’s operation of a “foundation” that was never approved by the VI Government and conflicting information about his ownership of a radio station in Virginia.

He found an audience in those who relished his self-righteous, far right wing, divisive style, characterized by his patronizing and often outright rude behavior to those who attempted to participate in his program that held a different view. And while clearly we believe in everyone’s right to their own opinion, we won’t miss hearing his.

The most recent controversy surrounded unpaid debts he had related to those who had loaned him money for the Virginia station and, despite his denials on air, a recent court ruling supported the loaner’s contention the Morgan had defaulted on a portion of the loan. (Attached)

So good bye and good riddance from our airwaves. We wish you safe passage to your next port of call.

We just hope you paid up before you left.

Hey anonymous maybe you could suggest to roger that as he begin his new international free speech program over the internet he might just be able to apply for an internet loan to pay his outstanding obligations to wapa, his landlord, kissie richards, and all others similarly situated.Once the program is up and running he could then open another non existent non profit account and channel money via the internet. Maybe the scheme wouldn’t be uncovered as quickly.

Regardless of who you choose to believe about Roger, what a waste of airtime 9:00 – 11:00 on “Let’s Talk”! I’d rather listen to the ridgerunner muzac. Bronco doesn’t seem to know who’s listening (or not) to him, but he’s preferable to a poke with a sharp stick. Hope is about as entertaining as watching a WAPA meter spin. There’s a reason Roger has been in radio among the greats for 50 years…

Let’s Talk is the program now airing in place of Free Speech. They have several different hosts and it seems pretty lame so far. There never seems to be a heated discussion, only callers stating the obvious or making an unsupported aligation, and the host agreeing. No one ever gets cut off or ridiculed for saying something stupid. It just doesn’t seem very entertaining at all. It might as well be government run.

Hey anonymous on march 4, our own gov’t doesn’t pay their WAPA bills so why should we? We should follow their example and Boycott WAPA. They can’t shut off everyones power and the units won’t run without enough load.

Hey please stop the carnival. You are obviously out of the loop with your cabal administration. Let’s talk is in fact a radio program to bolster the administration.

Hey is Roger the same Roger that was released from the federal bureau of prisons in 1988. What a role model. Now wonder he and John Dijon got along so well, they share an affinity for breaking the laws of our civilized society. Maybe Roge in exchange for his job in tourism could give Dijon pointers for survival in the prison system.
