The Governor’s Race Is On!
Senator Terrence “Positive” Nelson reaffirmed his intention to run for Governor of the Virgin Islands at a news conference on Wednesday.
The three-term St. Croix senator, member of the Independent Citizens Movement (ICM) party, has been the top vote getter on St. Croix in the last two elections. He did not announce a running mate, but said he has two top candidates, one from St. Thomas and one from St. John.

He said he would announce his running mate as soon as plans were concrete, but assured the community it would be someone who wants good government and has the talent to oversee the workings of the banking and insurance industries.
In addition to his experience as a senator, Nelson outlined his background in teaching, labor relations and community activism and said he will continue to be proactive in promoting accountabilty.
Relative to the ongoing matter of Governor John P. deJongh, Jr.’s use of public funds to renovate his private residence at Estate Mafolie, Nelson said the matter should be handled by the courts, particularly “since there’s been no remorse,” shown by the Governor. He emphasized that his stand on the matter was not related to his candidacy, but that the Governor’s decision to dispute the US Inspector General’s report that held him responsible for improper use of public funds was troubling.
“It is immoral… it is repulsive to think that this gross action can be denied publicly,” Nelson said.
And unlike the hopeful vision of the future the Governor attempted to paint in Monday’s State of the Territory address, Nelson said he believes the atmosphere in the Virgin Islands is one of fear and uncertainty, and that the problems will only be solved through good leadership.

Just imagine the surge of political enthusiasm, when that team an ounces.

@ Soldier Crab on June 23, 2010 at 12:54 pm,
You see that’s the problem with you democrats—–off message again!
http://www.donastorg2010.com read up a little not on our soon to be Crucian Governor nor Thomian Governor . But the soon to be Governor for all Virgin Islands ……… We got yo back FOncie!!!!!!!!
Foncie is a Thomian. We want ah CRUCIAN governor!!!!
Can we at least agree that we all want Dejongh gone?
John-D, the Governor; John-G the Public Relation Director; I, John-A,The Voter!
Donastorg needs to stop being so selfish and accept the Lt. Governor position. He’s showing that he doesn’t care about the well being of the Virgin Islands and is all about self.
The same can be said of Mapp. Why can’t Mapp or luz Jamrs take Lt. It is clear that neither can win without Donastorg. So what does this tell you? Donstorg is the force to beat de Jongh.
Maybe we all need to stay out of it and let these men hash it out. Eventually they will come to an agreement and kick de Jongh out of office.
Everybody needs to calm down. These men are not stupid. They know what they are doing and they know that all of our lives and our childrens are at stake. You all need to relax.
Hear this one yah. How dare you ask two former elected Lt. Governors to run second to Donastorg???? You must be DRUNK. Foncie should be honored to run with either one of those Crucians, but not him, he feel that he too good for that. So, that’s he business. We’ll take Sen. Malone since Foncie want to be so selfish and all about he self. Malone is also a top vote getter on STT. Donastorg does not give a dyam about our Virgin Islands.
De Jongh you sound dumb. You just trying to cause confusion betweem Mapp and Donastorg because you know what is in the making and can’t prevent it. Everybody done know that Malone refuse to be anyones LT governor. Go spread your proganda in your meetings. You fool, One Term Governor!
Those of us that support either Mapp or Donastorg know to ignore any Donastorg or Mapp attacks because we know they are coming from de Jongh. He wants to make it seem as if Mapp and Donastorg are attacking each other. De Jongh has been hearing whispers about what is going to be his downfall and he is desperate.
I will say it again, Donastorg and Mapp are not stupid they know what they are doing. When announcements are made de Jongh will bawl.
Jamila Russell was so correct with what she said on the radio today. All these candidates don’t care about the Virgin Islands and they are all selfish. If these candidates cannot work together to defeat John deJongh, how in the world can we expect them to be effective governors. We might as well stick with the devil that we know, rather than taking a chance with these jokers that can’t work together for the better good of the Virgin Islands.
I am still hoping that Mapp and Donastorg will unite for the good of the people and put party politics and past mistakes aside.
I personally will support any ticket Donastorg is on.
I want to see Mapp and Donastorg unite! That’s the team!
