Senator Calls Administration’s Arrogance “Appalling”
The arrogance of the deJongh Administration is “appalling” and the Governor should take responsibility for his actions,” according to Sen. Adlah “Foncie” Donastorg.
In a news release issued Tuesday, Donastorg said the Governor did not indicate any acknowledgement of  his actions nor any intention of complying with the recommendations in a US Inspector General’s report relative to his use of $490,000 in unauthorized public funds to renovate his private residence.
“We hoped to hear some kind of contrition, apology or even acknowledgement of the serious concerns documented by the United States Inspector General,” Donastorg said. “It was totally ignored in the Governor’s speech last night and just glossed over in today’s press conference.”
During Tuesday’s press conference Governor John de Jongh stated that he disagreed with the findings of the Federal audit that determined public funds were improperly spent for improvements to the his Estate Mafolie home.
“And we wonder why we have a crime problem here in the Virgin Islands?” Donastorg asked. “This is an unacceptable posture and sets a terrible example. It is time to take responsibility here and return this money to the Treasury.”
The Senator said the community should focus on law enforcement from the “top down”.
“We can’t go on penalizing those without means and resources while allowing those in positions of wealth and power to operate unchecked,” Donastorg said. “For too long this is what we have been doing and the Governor is now the poster child for greed and arrogance. Instead of admitting that he made a mistake he has now basically inferred that Federal auditors are not only wrong, but also biased against him.”

@ Kooldaddy:
I support anyone who has toughed-it-out here long enough, and is still willing to be vocal.
I don’t care what gender, age, or color anyone is, if they are willing to speak out for the betterment of the territory.
When it comes down to brass tacks, we will get the territory straight. The time has come, no more of my votes will be won with a food fair.
CIF Can we have a polling for Donastorg just like Positive’s.
The Virgin Islands is now a battle ground where there is a tremendous struggle between the forces of “good” and “bad.”
The line-in-the-sand which separates these two forces is Mafoliegate!
No good-minded person can defend such a bad-minded thing.
Donastorg will win come November 2010.
SOME DAY HE MAY WIN AND I WILL BR THERE WITH HIM, BUT 2010 WE NEED A POLISH POLITICIAN AND AN ANALYTICAL MIND. SOMEONE CAN DELIVER ON PROMISE MADE AND KEPT. DONASTORG VOTED ON THE DIAGEO DEAL AND BECAUSE HE COULD NT SEE THAT THIS CONTRACT WAS BAD I CAN NOT VOTE FOR HIM. HE ALLOW THIS ADMINISTRATION TO SINK US IN A VERY BAD DEAL. DONASTORG THE PEOPLE OF ST. CROIX DID NOT VOTE FOR ANY SENATORS WHO SUPPORTED DIAGEO. YOU MADE A BAD MISTAKE WE CAN’T SUPPORT ANYONE THAT WOULD PUT US IN FUTURE DEBT.
Correction, Donastorg voted for the Cruzan Rum deal, not the Diageo deal. He wasn’t a senator in the 27th Legislature. He tested the gubernatorial waters in 2006 and got beat by DeJongh and Mapp in the general elections.
It is absurd that Foncie expected the Governor to admit funds were misused. I would be shock to hear the Governor confessed to a crime he did not commit. If a person believes he/she is innocent, why would he/she would make a false confession? At this point, the Governor looks bad to those opposed to him regardless of the position he takes. If he says he is sorry, his political enemies would have a field day. He would unmercifully be politically tortured and terminated. He has proclaimed to be innocent, but this posture is viewed as arrogance. There is no action that the Governor can take that would satisfy all the people. Some claim they are not against him, they are just against his action. This makes no sense, because those same folks are gloating that he looks sick and are saying he should resign.
At this point, what is clear is the Governor is being portrayed as a demon to some and to others he is the greatest Governor. The people could make a decision when November election takes place. If he is not charged before November, who would you consider to be more credible? Would you believe Foncie is telling the truth and the justice system is protecting the Governor, or would you accept that the Governor was telling the truth, therefore he was not charged? The truth will soon come to light. Until then, all bloggers can just speculate, predict, ponder or opine on the matter. We will eventually learn whose opinions were correct.
Only a fool would expect DeJongh to admit his administration was corrupt and lacking transparency
Only a fool would expect DeJongh to admit his administration was corrupt and lacking transparency in the Mafoligate matter ONE DAY AFTER his state address in which he bragged of them not being that way for the past 3 years.
The Gov. has destroyed the VI’s relationship with the Federal Govt. They will come at us hard! A Really twisted situation. Furthermore, for anyone who knows Mr. Ware, they know this is a man that has garnered a lot of respect in this community. The gov has shot himself, once again, in the foot. He has lost A LOT of supporters on this one.
The de Jongh Regime’s Tri-strategy of Self-destruction:
(1)The de Jongh regime has caused strive among the people of the Virgin Islands; (2)the de Jongh regime has strained relations with Puerto Rico; and now, (3)the de Jongh regime wants to challenge the integrity of the Federal Inspector General.
Three strikes, YOU’RE OUT!
Amended:”strife”

And the beat goes on. The Governor’s political enemies are wincing in pain with the recently launched deJongh’s missile. The IG Report has been blown to smithereens. What’s the next move, Foncie? It is your play now. I guess, my fiends, the answer is blowing in the winds.
Methinks the Bishop is delusional.
Bishop is not only delusional, he is also dysfunctional as well!
I know a lot of people right now , wish that they could take over 400,000 from the governemnt , so that they can get someplace to live. For years people thiefing money from the government and going unpunished . DeWolf eating all the pig dem.
Damn shame we are now identified as talk show tugs. A good sign that someone is trying to keep something quiet is to try to discredit a person(s) who has revealed something truthful about them.
Remembering Walter Cronkite
July 18, 2009 – The late CBS news anchor, Walter Cronkite, played a key role in the unravelling of Watergate.
Cronkite, who has died aged 92, broadcast two extensive stories on Watergate in 1972. Ben Bradlee, the former Washington Post editor, said today that a lot of “Washington people, people who followed national stories – a lot of them who had not decided that we were right changed their minds because of Walter”.
This is part of Bradlee’s comments in Newsweek: “In October 1972, Cronkite devoted two segments, back to back, to the Watergate story. The first was 14 minutes, the second eight. I think that second night was curtailed by CBS chairman William S. Paley because Paley was scared of it. The fact that Cronkite did Watergate at all (let alone at that length) gave the story a kind of blessing, which is exactly what we needed—and exactly what The Washington Post lacked. It was a political year, and everyone was saying, “Well, it’s just politics, and here’s the Post trying to screw Nixon.” We were the second-biggest newspaper in the country trying to scramble for a good story—whereas Cronkite was the reigning dean of television journalists. When he did the Watergate story, everyone said, “My God, Cronkite’s with them.”
Does this sound familiar in the Mafoligate saga. Jimmy was right as I read about Watergate a lot of stuff can be applied to what’s happening with our own Watergate.
We all have changed our minds since RECON, Jimmy and Mario have unraveled this Mafoligate saga. Including Sentors, O’Reilly, N. James, Donastorg, Postive, and Richards.
Excerpts of Nixon April 29 1974 speech
Until March of this year, I remained convinced that the denials were true and that the charges of involvement by members of the White House Staff were false. The comments I made during this period, and the comments made by my Press Secretary in my behalf, were based on the information provided to us at the time we made those comments. However, new information then came to me which persuaded me that there was a real possibility that some of these charges were true, and suggesting further that there had been an effort to conceal the facts both from the public, from you, and from me.
This what we are going to hear soon from the Dewolf Administration.
