The Issue Is Trust
Tonight when Sen. Neville James holds the hearing in the “Mafoliegate” investigation, the eyes of the Territories will be upon him and his committee.
It’s the second meeting of the Committee on Financial Services, Infrastructure and Community Affairs to discuss the use of public funds to renovate the private home of Governor John P. deJongh, Jr. So far, the tally is $490,000.
Since the first hearing last October, there has been an “apology” from the Governor; the confirmation and “private” swearing-in of an individual who should have been a key testifier in this matter but who is now unable to testify as he is a judge; and the emergence of a letter that, by all reports, requested the reprogramming of some $270,000 in funds for the renovation project that was known to only one member of the Legislature – and not passed on to those who eventually voted for it.
We make no predictions on tonight’s outcome. We do remind the Committee that this is the most watched issue in recent memory, and their action, or inaction, based on not just tonight’s testimony, but the events that began with the first denial last June, will send a clear message to the community on where they stand on perhaps the most significant issue between elected officials and their voters.
That issue is trust.
We will all be watching.

EyesWideOpen2010!,
Your’re assuming Anonymous had marbles to begin with.
A follower is only as good as its leader, that is why DeJongh’s supporters are complete moron’s.
No hard feelings MORONS, only stating the obvious.
Web-Admin,
How could it be considered name calling when it’s the truth?
Web Admin,
Can we consider the foregoing intervention? Anonymous prior really needs the help!!!
To’anonymous’@ 5.46pm:Want to know ‘who is the head of the
Executive Branch’? THE PEOPLE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS.Not the person they elect to represent them.Stuff that in your pipe and haul-up.
What happens when they start to “dig” and “uncover” the “transactions” of the Virgin Islands Lottery; will they “term it” A WITCH HUNT?
From Mafoliegate to Lotterygate?
We are entering a very dangerous period in our government. As Mr. RC just said on Jimmy’s show, we need to be watchful of what priorities the administration now has, especially with spending what is left of our gov. finances. The uncertainty of a “lame duck” period might last 11 months this time. We need to impress upon our senators that they need to come out with protective measures for gov. finances quickly. (Like taking back the lump sum parts of the budget and making sure that line iteming occurs.) Some senators need to redeem themselves by supporting proposed safeguards.
We also need to set up a more reliable election system!
deGreat rules! The war has just began and he is prepared to defend his honor. We will stand behind him.Together we can and will put him back in office. Words do not kill. The enemies will be defeated through the democratic process.
It does not make any sense to stoop to their level.Empty barrels make the most noise. Those who write derogatory remarks on this site will not attach their real names. They are too shameful to confirm their identities.Their comments speak for themselves. Dirty characters think dirty and can only write smut. They do not write letters to legitimate newspapers. This site and 1620 am radio station are the only outlets to spew their venom.
We can combat the negative attacks by flooding the newspapers and other radio stations with the truth.deGreat will not be intimidated or shaken by the blatantly false allegations by the IG. You will hear his response to this matter on Tuesday.Tune in to hear deGreat give his speech about his accomplishments and journey to the promised land….
Dennis, I mean Senator Donastorg, there’s a reason why you went over the top in your description of Old Timer. Based on what he told us, we understand why you feel the way you do.
‘Anonymous’,
Remember God chose a leader whose character was beyond reproach to lead His people to the promised land…a journey which should have taken no more than 40 DAYS ended up taking 40 tortuous YEARS.Moses had his hands full.
So,how can’Sir John’,with all of his alleged flaws’ and non-accomplishments,be considered to be the anointed one to lead Virgin Islnders to their land of ‘milk and honey’?
What you and others need to bear in mind is that as much as Moses accomplished in his life, and as loved and respected as he was by his people and his Lord,he never set foot in that land of milk and honey. No sir.God took him up on a hill and showed it to him from afar.
Question is:from what distance (and site) of incarcera- tion might Sir John and his disciples be looking at his people after the last votes have been counted on election day 2010?
Typo:’incarceration’should not be hyphenated.
…..and by the way,’Anonymous’,you are knocking bloggers for not
attaching their real names to the comments they post.So tell me,what is your name again?
Soldier Crab, you and other bloggers making the nasty remarks against the Governor are too ashame to give your real names. Your intellectual level is apparent in your writing. Please keep your real name a secret and continue to write as a soldier crab.Crabs are cowards and hate the light. The blogger name that you use is appropriate. You can hide from the truth, but you can not stop the truth from being told.We all could have opinions, but we can not create facts.Your misrepresentation of facts speaks to your character.
Anonymous,
You are so full of CRAP. DeJongh is history and ALL OF YOU KNOW IT.
Keep mocking and making fun of the Federal Government (you will make prison life for DeWolf that more pleasant).
The MASSES are speaking and DeJongh is GONE!
Ha!ha!ha!
If words were fatal, I would now be stone dead.Fortunately, you do not know my identity and I have no interest in meeting none of you deluded,nasty-minded folks. Your comments have no consequences.
I will praise deGreat with fervor. You can not stop the inevitable. You are powerless to keep me off this site. You’ll be haunted in your dreams. You’ll hear the message until you are driven insane, deGreat rules!, deGreat rules!1deGreat rules!
Never insane for we will proclaim VICTORY in 2010!
Good-Bye to John Dejongh!!!!!!
