Hodge To Join Alpine Town Meeting Panel
Hugo Hodge, Executive Director of the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority, has accepted an invitation to participate in the Town Hall meeting concerning the Alpine Energy Project on January 13.
Crucians In Focus (CIF), in conjunction with the Virgin Islands Ratepayers Association, is sponsoring the meeting from 6-8 p.m. at Gertrude’s Restaurant. The purpose of the meeting is to give the community a chance to understand the deal, its cost, environmental and health impacts in an open discussion forum. Admission is free.
“We are very pleased that Mr. Hodge has accepted our invitation to participate in this important public forum,” said CIF President Michael Springer on behalf of the sponsors. “It’s critical that the community have an opportunity to hear first hand from the people who have been involved in the development of this project.”
Hodge will join a distinguished panel including St. Croix Senator Nellie O’Reilly; Paul Chakroff, Virgin Islands Ratepayers Association; Mario Moorehead, historian and community activist; community activists Steffen Larsen, Dwayne Callwood, George Moore and Clarence Payne; and former Senator Adelbert Bryan.
“We’re holding this session so the people can understand this deal without all the technicalities,” said CIF President Michael Springer. “People want to know how this works, what it’s going to cost and what it will do to our health and the environment without all the jargon and legal language.”
Response to the meeting has been extremely positive, Springer said. A clip of the radio promotional announcement for the meeting is attached below.
The forum will also be broadcast live on WSTX Radio, 970 AM.

Gee, will Hugo actually show up without the $6 million dollar consultants holding his hand and having to speak for him since he is clueless on how the AEG will hurt the very islands he is from?
I can hardly wait. Cornwall needs to show up as well.
This is great! I will be attending.
