The second hearing to investigate the events surrounding the “Mafoliegate” scandal will be held January 12, 2010, at a time and place to be announced. And among those scheduled to be subponaed to testify is newly confirmed Superior Court Judge designee Adam Christian.

Sen. Neville James announced the hearing on Monday during the Legislative session. James, who chairs the Financial Services, Infrastructure and Consumer Affairs Committee, convened the initial hearing on the matter on October 20. The subject of investigation is the use of some $490,000 in public funds to renovate Gov. John P. deJongh Jr.’s Estate Mafolie private property.

Several members of the deJongh administration, including Judge designee Christian and members of the Public Finance Authority, declined to testify at that time and are scheduled to be subponaed to the January session.

Christians’ role as chief counsel to the Governor during the Mafoliegate incident was the basis for the objections of the six Senators who opposed his confirmation Monday to the Superior Court. Christian declined to answer several questions posed to him during his nomination hearing based on the “attorney-client privilege” he said existed between himself and the Governor related to the public funds scandal. Sen. James stated that the timing of Christians’ nomination in the midst of the investigation was “unfortunate” when discussing his rationale for not supporting the confirmation at this time.

But ‘Anonymous” isn’t that what the people of the V.I.want him and their politicians to be? A threat to wrong-doing? And by the way,Adam Christian’s first obligation is to himself….his conscience and his beliefs.

He has already shamed himself and his family. Timing is everything when you are trying to smoke out and catch a Demorat. When the handcuff go on Mr Christian he will make VI history. SAD for the people and a shameful disgrace for the Christians. All for MONEY. SAD

Just so that I can understand, are there more than one persons using the moniker ‘Anonymous’,or is it the same person making mutiple comments in a row? A bit confusing,
as some comments seem to contradict the other.

…..and I forgot to ask, what, precisely, has Mr.Christian done that is such a ‘shameful disgrace’ for his family and will, according to you, have him placed in ‘handcuffs’?

Soldier – if a blogger doesn’t put in a name it comes up as Anonymous.

you see ‘Clock’,people who use monikers can identify with whom they are conversing, but when you have more than one person having the same ‘name’ it can become a bit tricky. But,it is what it is–and I thank you,m’son,
    for the enlightenment.

Anonymous-having no known or acknowledged name or authorship.
People blog anonymously because they wish to share a thought or idea. T he messenger is not important;focus on the message and make your remarks without getting personal.
If you are going to lodge a charge against a public figure and post the officials’ name, be bold to use your own name. Of course only a pitiful, spineless coward would resort to the tactic of throwing blows behind a screen.
What crime has Adam Christian committed? To the accuser, can you state your name and enlightened as about the truth that only you possess?
Since I am not smart and knowledgeable as other posters, could someone define: “moniker.”
It is not tricky if a blogger does not use a real name. The intention is not for anyone to guess identities; posting allows one to express varying opinions.Imagine the possible damage when CIF knowingly lets bloggers recklessly make allegations. As long as these unfounded charges are directed against their enemies, there is no consideration about it.
It is okay to disagree, but what is gained casting aspersions upon your own people?

It was an ‘anonymous’blogger who accused Mr.Christian of wrong-doing,not yours truly.I was merely trying to find out what wrong he has done.I agree that it is the message and not the messenger that’s important. Also,I wasn’t implying that it’s ‘tricky’not to use one’s name while blogging.what I was pointing out,and you failed to grasp,is that when so many people refrain from using a name (real or not)and their comments come up as ‘anonymous’,it becomes”tricky’ for one to indicate which “anonymous” blogger they are responding to.Got it?Finally, rather than give you the definition of the word ‘moniker’I suggest you take some time out and go consult your dictionary.

Soldier – I don’t know of any crime that Adam Christian has committed and I think if you go back and read the stories you won’t see him accused here.

But the issue as I see it (in my opinion i stress) is that Atty. Christian has been legal counsel to the governor during the time when the use of the public funds for his home at mafolie were being spent. The use of that money is underinvestigation by a Senate committee and Christian is one of the people who was going to be called to testify about it (and probably still will be called whenever they have the second hearing.) So the objection was that the Christian nomination for Judge should have been put on hold until after the investigation was completed.

Because part of the concern what (if any) part he may have played in advising the governor on use of these funds, which he didn’t answer earlier because of atty/client privilege – which also started a lot of controversy.

So it’s more not waiting until the investigation was completed so that we were clear on what his role was in all that before confirming him for a judge.

    Again – that’s my opinion.

Why is the majority leader so concerned about keeping Mario on the air?

Public funds have been used to settle a sexual harassment case involving a senator and the majority leader plans to grant financial assistance to Mario using public funds. Does these two examples of misuse of public funds disturb anyone?
