Update: Alpine Leases Stall In Legislature
The Legislature has put action on two leases for the Alpine Energy Group plant on St. Thomas on hold until more information can be gathered on the project and its potential impact.
And Senate President Louis Hill has committed to holding a meeting of all parties on all sides of the project so that responses to all concerns can be heard “by both sides at the same time.”
The motion to postpone passed by a vote of 12 for, two against and one absent – and the one absent was Sen. Craig Barshinger who, earlier in the session, had voiced concerns about moving forward based on community input he had received. Barshinger is chairman of the Committe on Economic Development, Energy and Technology.
Much more to come on this story.

Thank you Senators!
It is good to know that the concerns of the public are in fact heard. Can we do this again?
CIF: Did you happen to catch the Ustream Blog address for senate?
Let’s make sure Hill the game player extraordinaire, is not blowing smoke with the Alpine inquiries.
He was originally strongly for the deal along with Dowe, Sprauve, Thurland, Sanes, Williams, White, Barshinger.
Just like the vote for the dumping in Lindbergh Bay……all voted for the leases and the dumping.
We need to remember how the gang in the tank votes come next November.
If they fill out, as directed by law, the financial disclosures and they are made public, we will see who is getting their pockets lined by voting the way they do.
