Questionable Ethics? Come on Down!
NJ Baliff OD’d After Affair With New VI Criminal Justice Chief
A female bailiff assigned to his New Jersey courtroom attempted suicide through overdose after he ended an affair with her and the incident resulted in a formal ethics complaint being filed against him in February, 2009.
Despite this public history of unethical conduct, which he admitted to in the attached complaint document, Judge Wilson J. Campbell was approved by Governor John P. deJongh to take over the role of Chief of the Criminal Justice Division in the Department of Justice on St. Thomas.
Campbell was recommended by Atty. General Vincent Frazer who wrote, “I believe he is just the kind of attorney we need to serve as our Chief Prosecutor in St. Thomas.”
Really?
The issue became public after the bailiff attempted suicide last June and said she did it because she was depressed about the breakup of her relationship with Campbell. Campbell later admitted to the “intimate relationship,” which he said began in April, 2008 and ended in June, 2008.
One must question the ethics and character of any individual who will participate in an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate in any setting. It is extremely troubling that a person whose job it is to uphold the law in letter and in spirit would engage in behavior so contrary to that expectation.
Unfortunately, based on what we’ve seen from some of our public officials, he should fit right in.
Frazer Letter and Campbell Ethics Complaint

Why am I not surprised?
Do we have any leaders who are true to the people and their families?? The type of people we elected to be leaders is disgraceful!
?????
So much for a full vetting process to include background checks. Or did deJongh and Frazer already know what happened in Jersey?
I also think he is just the kind of attorney we(meaning THEM) need to serve as our(meaning THEY) chif Prosector in St.Thomas, he will fit right in with the rest of them.
The way they do things he will be with his kind.
i just hope that that poor woman is ok now. GOD help us all
Both of them were single and free to do wherever they wanted at that time; doctors, nurses, teachers, etc., engage in relationships and sometimes peopple find their wives and husbands in their place of work, so what is the big deal with this one. why the answer of the complaint was not add to those attachments the reporter attached. If you are going to put the information do it complete and show both sides.
WHO CARES? I SURE DON’T. HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE INTIMATE WITH WHOMEVER HE WANTS AS LONG AS HE IS NOT JUDGING THEM. MAN POWER HOURS SHOULD BE SPENT DOING MORE USEFUL THINGS THAN THIS. IF THE LADY OD, ONE CAN IMAGEN WHY THE RALATIONSHIP DID NOT LAST
unk and ??? – okay, i’m going to try to explain this in language you can understand.
This is not about the marital status of either party.
He was her boss. She was his subordinate. This was inappropriate workplace conduct. That is unethical and illegal.
Got it now?
read the explanation of the complaint n attachments that are with it, n the law states is not illegal base on what this states. so what is UNETHICAL AND ILLEGAL, DID YOU READ IT, AND DID YOU READ THE POLICY STATEMENTS? “POLICY ON CONSESUAL DATING IN THE WORKPLACE”. I’m just stateting the facts and what the NJ law states.
Just in case here it is. and translate then
