So, Did You Buy The Radio Station?
It seems that local radio personality Roger Morgan ran into a problem paying back the interest on a $25,000 promissory note and had to be sued by the individuals who loaned him the money.
The complaint was filed by Andreas Tietje and named Morgan and his wife Kanga as defendants. They were to appear in Superior Court to answer the complaint on October 20.
The loan, according to the complaint attached below “was furnished to the Defendant(s) as a down payment for WODI radio station in Brookneal, Virginia.”
We hope Mr. Tietje got the rest of his money back.
But what we really want to know is – did you buy that radio station?

Well, 2 weeks ago, when Morgan wasn’t on his show, I googled Morgan and found a residential phone listing for him and his wife in VA. It’s my guess that he “bought” WODI, BUT, if he owes for the down payment, then maybe Andreas really owns it. Also, in reference to the RWMORGAN foundation, RWM actually collected donations before STX Foundation signed him on as a fiduciary.
Mr Morgan, you too have been caught in a scam, just like the gov.

The people of the VI need to know the details. Here is what a number of people working together have been able to piece together (non-locals, too).
The history involving Roger appears repeat itself over and over. He shows up in the Virgin Islands with nothing. He works for Jonathan Cohen and gets fired. He makes a deal with Hugh Pemberton that ends up in an altercation. Suddenly he gets money from an elderly couple and buys Paradise Radio. He gets in hot water with the FCC because of his failure to follow the commission’s station transfer procedures. It costs the elderly couple $15k.
Roger then disrupts two townhall meetings and confronts Roy Rodgers then Neville James. He buys a house and sells it. He starts Yellowbird Coffee and sells it.
He makes a big deal out of broadcasting from Virginia and says he is only re-programming the station when asked TWICE by recon if he owns it. This is after he has told his listeners over and over he is broke. A check with the FCC shows he did buy it and lied to the public.
That is where Andreas comes in. Roger wanted the downpayment from Andreas in the amount of $25k and wrote the agreement adding another $5k interest. It appears that as soon as the WODI radio station was finalized in April 2009 Roger stopped paying Andreas. Andreas filed a lawsuit and Roger was to be in court Tuesday, Oct. 20th, but blew it off. Roger was even asked on-air if he was to be in court and stated he was NOT.
Now you hear Roger labeling Andreas as a disgruntled caller on Free Speech and stating Andreas wants to discredit the RWM Foundation and further revealing personal details about Andreas after he hangs up on the man. Andreas was not given any opportunity to rebut.

As for the “Foundation” clearly it appears Roger attempted to register with the Lt. governor’s Office in early 2006, but was turned down because of incomplete paperwork. He was given the opportunity to correct the situation, but as of one year later when he started collecting money for Kissee Richards the paperwork was not completed. Roger collected anyway and checks were written to the Roger W. Morgan Foundation.
Strangely, checks were never endorsed either by a stamp or account name and signature. They say “For Deposit Only” and have the account number of 022015837.
Next thing we hear Roger has placed the money under the wing of the STX Foundation. What you are NOT being told is the money is under the name “Paradise Radio Fund.” Why? If the RWM Foundation was legit and a point of community pride why change the name? Is it because the STX Foundation requires 501(c)3 status of any previous existing client, but will allow a non-previous existing 501(c)3 to operate under theirs? Get the picture?
Maybe Andreas knows something we don’t and Roger is attempting to demonize him for asking for the truth. Everytime Roger is asked about the legal foundation of his organization he immediately states the money is under the STX Foundation and it is all there.
And the interest he says the money is making that exceeds the fee of 7.5%. Why won’t Roger tell his audience how much interest he is earning and how? Does your savings or checking account earn more than 7.5%? If you donated, did you get a tax deduction? Is Roger getting any tax benefits from all of this?

Imagine, if the RWM Foundation is discovered to have not been legally established prior to using the airwaves to collect money, the FCC will be all over him, he will be forced to return all of the money, those who claimed tax deductions will be required to adjust their returns and even owe the IRS money, their could be banking issues, federal charges, and issues with the STX Foundation, as well.
Roger solicited the money publicly, makes claims on the air about the validity of the Foundation, but will not answer questions so verification can be made.
All other non-profits in the VI can be verified within 30 minutes. Not Roger’s.

The WODI radio station and the residence he was buying were placed on the market a month or two ago. What is it called when you buy something and turn around and sell it?
We never trusted that guy.
A lot worse being done by our government and our elected officials and commissions (commissioners, PSC—what ‘looking out for us’, CZM & CASINO — these members have their hands out to graft judging on what they have permitted and NOT permitted) (will we EVER get a hotel started on STX?) and political appointees to boards (WAPA, VIWMA).
And then there are some of our beloved, overpaid, under worked corrupt senators telling us they work for US! Maybe, but only if their hands are greased in the process or benefit from free trips all over the world. Doing the people’s business indeed.
RWM is like a fly on an elephant’s pa-tutee compared to the corruption in government.
He’s a liar…..we gave him money and he didn’t use it for it’s intended purpose.
RWM makes me sick. Everytime he hangs up on one of our people I have this symbolic image of him spitting in the caller’s face.
That is exactly what it is. Spitting in our faces.

To The Undisputed Truth:
You jarred my memory. Now that you mention it I remember Roger Morgan was asked if he owned the station in Virginia and he did say he was reprogramming, or whatever. That was after he came back from Virginia and he was broadcasting from there.
On last week’s show he admitted he had bought the station and said it was a bad decision.
The bottom line is the answer he gave to the first question was not the truth. Yes, he did lie now that I think of it. I also understand he has a very explosive temper.
I can’t decide if I should stop listening to him or listen more closely. One thing for sure he is not genuine.
