Crime Stoppers – It’s Working Thanks To You
Crime Stoppers has a special announcement to all residents of the USVI: Since January 1, 2007 there have been 135 homicides committed in our territory. Almost all were due to gunshots, and more than half of the victims were under 35 years of age. Think of the number of lives and future generations lost who could have contributed to the betterment of the Virgin Islands.
The good news is that since January of this year, the residents of the territory, via Crime Stoppers, have provided law enforcement with tips that helped solve 48% of these homicides, with many additional investigations nearing completion. Thank you for doing the right thing. Now let’s solve the remaining 52% of the homicides. Please continue to be part of the solution. Help bring closure to these cases for the families and friends of the deceased and for all of us who want to see our loved ones live in a safe, secure, and productive community.
On Saturday September 26, 2009, St. Thomas will host activities for National Night Out Against Crime. Similar events will follow in St. Croix and St. John in October. Let’s use these events to send a clear message to the killers that we have all had enough of the violence and that we are going to provide law enforcement with the necessary information to solve the remaining homicides. Even the smallest bit of information may be just what is needed to solve these cases.
Community members can submit tips to Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). The tips are completely anonymous, and the stateside operators are bilingual. Tipsters can also submit tips online at www.CrimeStoppersUSVI.org or by texting “USVI” plus your message to CRIMES (274637). If a tip leads to an arrest or the recovery of stolen property or illegal drugs, the tipster receives a cash reward to be paid according to their instructions. Only anonymous callers to Crime Stoppers are eligible for these cash rewards.

lets all give information to solve these crimes
I read this site often and it’s a shame to see so few comments for something very positive like this. But when the topic is in regards to some political nonsense or bacchanal, there’s plenty of comments. I just have to shake my head.
Keep up the good work Crime Stoppers, you’re leading by example!
