Ten Commandments For Politicians
We ran across this list in an article from the Daily Beast website in a story questioning the lack of moral outrage surrounding the extramarital affair of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford. Sanford disappeared for six days back in June and it was subsequently revealed that he had been spending time with his mistress in South America.
A reporter for the Beast put together this list of “Ten Commandments for Politicians.” While some of them are specific to the Sanford situation, we think that others are very applicable to some of the issues we are struggling with in the Virgin Islands.
We’ve reprinted the entire list below and have marked with an asterisk those we think apply to us. We’re asking you for other suggestions for our own “Ten Commandments for Politicians in the Virgin Islands.” We’ll print our list, including some of your suggestions, next Monday on CIF.
Ten Commandments for Politicians:
1. Don’t lie*
2. Don’t cheat*
3. Don’t have affairs with aides
4. Don’t hire relatives of aides’ with whom you are having an affair
5. Don’t claim immunity because your activity is not technically prosecutable*
6. Don’t use government aircraft for dangerous liaisons
7. Don’t hike the Appalachian Trail
8. Don’t go looking for that “sparking thing”
9. Don’t make foreign bed chambers a rationale for chamber of commerce trips
10. Do resign when found guilty of any of the above*

Lard have his merci Persona describing issues with ma governor to da T. Dewolf just like all of dem. Like da man sing bout he, ” WHen he tief the people money to fix he house….roll with John, Roll with John
I guess looting and stealing public funds to fix up a house under the guise of executive security are two different things.

Someone needs to medicate you, VI Restore hope!
Please also pass the medication to CIF Correspondent. They obviously need help.
If any of our political leaders violate any one of these commandments, what should be the punishment?
Lock them in a room with CIF Correspondent, VI Restore Hope and Verdel.
Barbara Wheatley whose appointment letter is on DEMMANSAY.Com is the same person who abruptly left the Department of Labor after a stinging audit of the Unemployment Insurance Division of Labor that identified illegal activities in the handling of the fund. This is called returning to the scene of the crime. Dewolf is Bold. The more things change the more they remain the same… look out for her shouting “four more years” in the near future. It is a disgrace!
The only shouting you will hear shortly is the community shouting “Give De Wolf Four More Years To His 25 To Life Sentence”.
The Feds are coming, the Feds are coming, thank God almighty the Feds are here. Just when we assumed there was no hope for a resolution of these tyranical actions by the Governor, the Feds has just stepped into to evaluate things. I am sure what they will find will be rather disturbing. I never thought I would be happy to see the presence of the Federallies, but things need to be cleaned up. Just when Little John thought there is no authority to monitor the wrong he is doing, here comes the another layer of “watch dogs” to whip things in order. I heard this is not an unusual case, some years ago an elected official in Colorado was impeached for doing the same thing Little John did but with much less money. I guess Little John and his group of accomplices really thought this was not serious. The bragging should be over…..The failing Senators will not be needed afterall. The stall tactic I have witnessed will be nothing but a smokescreen with no smoke…
Dennis, the issue about the Governor and the Senate President moving forward to modify the VI Code to benefit their interest is no longer an issue for the VI community.
It is the United States of America who is center stage in this show down. These two tyrants are currently under investigation by the Federal government. What they are attempting to do is modify the VI Code during this coming Tuesday senate hearing to obstruct the Federal government investigation against them. Several layers of federal investigators are working behind the scene in Washington, DC on this case. There is a term in law enforcement call “show of force”. The extra layer that just arrive in the VI is the Federal government way of “show of force”.
This whole mess is now a Federal government problem. The Feds are not going to forget what Senator Dowe did them to obstruct justice. They are not going to allow that to happen again. The Con Air flight leaving the VI will be fill to capacity. A whole lot of government officials are going to jail over all of this corruptions.
Don’t forget what happened in New Jersey…the Feds hauled off bus loads of government officials for corruption. De Jongh and his tyrants show not have messed with the will of the Obama administration to pursue justice. Justice will be served.
