Senators Dowe, Hill & White

The Legislature’s Henchmen turned up the heat and the documents that tell the “Mafoliegate” story have vanished from the official 28th Legislature’s website.

Now we’re wondering if the hearings that Sen. Neville James was supposed to call to bring the rest of this scandal to light are going to disappear too.

We knew the Henchmen, Senators Hill, Dowe and White, were furious with James for posting the documents. We knew they were pressuring him to take them down and we know they’re trying whatever they can to make sure that these hearings don’t take place.

We’re not worried about the documents. We anticipated there might be a “problem” with the site and took action to preserve the information. So don’t fret. We’ve still got them and will be making them available in the near future. And don’t think we didn’t notice that the Public Finance Authority (PFA) documents never even got posted.

Senator James, those hearings MUST take place. You know it, we know it, the Henchmen know it, and the Administration knows it.

These strong-arm tactics have sent a clear message to the community – that this Administration and its accomplices will do anything to keep the truth out of the light.

Truth crushed to earth shall rise again.

Administrator’s note: Documents have been re-posted on the Legislature’s website. Click here to view documents.

I just read the link to that article. I have never read a worse piece of fluff in my entire life. The Daily News is claiming that it wrote about Prosser and was never biased through the ownership changes. The American Journalism Review ought to be ashamed of itself. I sent an email to its editor letting them know how I felt about the article. The address is: editor@ajr.umd.edu

TUNE IN TO ON GOING SENATE HEARING. SENATOR NELSON IS CONDEMNING THE DE JONGH ADMINISTRATION FOR LYING TO THE PEOPLE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS. SIMMONDS FROM THE ADMINISTRATION IS BEING DISRESPECTFUL TO THE SENATOR AND SPARKES ARE FLYING.

HENCHMAN SENATOR DOWE IS TRYING TO SILENCE SENATOR NELSON FROM GETTING TO THE TRUTH. THE DE JONGH ADMINISTRATION IS COMING APART ON THE FLOOR OF THE SENATE. BLOWS ARE BEING THROWN ON BOTH SIDES.

WE ARE MONITORING THIS LIVE SITUATION.

The irony is that it’s the same group of senators that appropriated the money for the governor to do construction work at his private residence in the first place. They only decided to distance themselves from the controversy because they knew it will kill their political careers. Same thing with the handling of the mold situation at the IRB building in Sugar Estate.

For the last two and half years the Commisioner for DPNR has been Mrs Susan Penn! It seems like the Penns are running the Government! When DeJongh get in his hot water, I wonder uf they going be there for him.

I watched the Senate hearing yesterday, and I saw Positive let the Governor’s financial team have it! WOW, I don’t remember ever seeing him so vex! But the thing is he is right. When the government decided to renovate on the resort on St. John, they brought down contractors from Florida instead using local contractors. And for the Diageo plant, the government promised to employ local contractors in order to boost the economy. Instead, they brought down contractors from the mainland. Meanwhile, government House keeps talking about payless holidays and layoffs.

When Senator Donastorg talked about repealing Act # 6905 with the raises of the government officials, the senate fired him as their president. If the governor and the senators truly care about serving the VI people, they would have at least take Sen. Donastorg’s suggestion into consideration. In fact, they should have never allow all of these problems to escalate to this critical level.

I sense in my soul that change is truly coming by next year, and many of our government officials will be on the receivng end of it. The people are fed up with years of broken promises and cover-ups. Like a Schneider supporter said in the mid-1990s, “a change IS coming!!!”

Well, Well Well, this morning I heard the dejongh is angry about the way one of his staffers were treated in the senate hearing. I was really shocked to hear, but pleased in another way because FINALLY someone in the senate have the balls to let members of this administration know that they are crooks and putting certain persons to guard the money, when they went to prison for stealing.

To CIF in one of my earlier comments in reference to Nathan simmonds went to prison for stealing along with other facts and It was REMOVED! So tell me CIF do you believe that what senator Nelson said about nathan simmonds going to jail for stealing will be removed from the records? In that set of comments I said DO NOT LET SOMEONE TELL YOU WHAT TO PRINT ESPICALLY IF IT TRUE!
I was shocked that nelson mentioned it but if a shot was thrown at him, throw one back. In those Comments I also mentioned that “SLANDER IS NOT SLANDER IF ITS TRUE”. Nathan is an arrogant person who beleive that he is above the law he and hill can hold hands and just into a shark pit.

Wheel of fortune- Thanks for bring back what nathan simmonds did maybe this will slow the arrogance in him down.

    CIF Be fair to all.

    Facts or Falsities?

    Questions often lead to Queries.

    I have two questions:
1.Is it factual what has been said of Mr. Simmonds?
2.Is it in connection to what was “eluded” to by Senator Nelson on the senate floor?

  9. June on August 27, 2009 at 9:45 am

    Eye Wide Open

It is a fact that he served time in prison while he was employed at First Pen Bank as stated by Senator Nelson some persons in high paying jobs beleive that they were born big and never committed any crime. Whether or not we want to admit it all of us have but what gets me angry is when those in power act like they are squeaky clean and sometimem they need to be reminded. They also need to humble themselves
and just do the right thing! and assist those less fortune!

We at the Daily News have no problem being criticized by a website that hails a documented fraud as the next best candidate for Governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

When we exposed Senator Donastorg for claiming to have a degree from a business company named Madison Institute, he response was as expected. Weak and off point.

The Daily News was here long before CIF and will be here for a long time after CIF no longer exists.

    Do enjoy your day.

If the institution is not worthy or accredited, it is fair to say so. But where is the fraud? Try come with something better than that.

  12. WACKO CRAIGO on August 27, 2009 at 7:56 pm

Wacko Craigo Barshinger is headed to St. Croix Williams Delight.

This would be a good time to ask Wacko Craigo questions about his technical difficulties at the senate. The teleprompter, two sided paper, his proposal to purchase new cars for the senate which was preempted by Sen Donastorg. This new car idea was replaced by used cars from VIPD.

What will WACKO CRAIGO propose next at Williams Delight?

This senator is really wacked out!

WACKO CRAIGOOOOO what ever happened to your alleged legal action against the senator that exposed your plan do purchase new cars from your buddy at Community Motors on St. Thomas?

Look out St. Croix…WACKO GRAIGO is on is way.

  13. BARSHINGER CONFIRM OR DENY on August 28, 2009 at 6:54 am

SENATOR CRAIG BARSHINGER, DIDN’T YOU KNOW A WHOLE LOT MORE ABOUT YOUR CAMPAIGN WORKER CLARITA STEWART? DIDN’T YOU MISLEAD DAILY NEWS STAFF TIM FIELDS AND MEGAN POINSKI WHEN YOU SAID YOU KNEW VERY LITTLE ABOUT STEWART?

    CONFIRM OR DENY

“In 2004, Stewart volunteered for Sen. Craig Barshinger’s campaign. Barshinger said he knows very little about Stewart, and he said she is not a part of his office staff.”

    Opus Management Group

Opus’ articles of incorporation list Clarita Stewart as an incorporating officer. Stewart, who is an accountant and notary public, notarized a Dec. 28, 2001, letter signed by Elite President Tammy Goodrum authorizing Elite Vice President Earl Brewley to represent the company in all transactions with the V.I. government.

According to federal and territorial court files, Stewart has been found guilty of numerous felonies.

In 2001, Stewart’s company, C&A Management Services, received a $7,000 contract from the V.I. ELECTIONS SYSTEM to conduct a review and audit of campaign disclosure results. V.I. Elections Supervisor John Abramson Jr. is vice president of Opus Management Group.

He said he was paid a $5,000 retainer to do the coastal study, but he could not finish the work because government agencies did not provide the necessary data on taxes, fees, fish and wildlife counts, fishermen and boat counts, federal funds, environmental impact, employment, coastal-related jobs and numerous other factors.

“People were reluctant to give information, which made completing the project difficult,” Abramson said.

  14. Embarrassed Virgin Islander on August 29, 2009 at 1:52 am

On Friday, August 28th, the New York Post published a question. Does anyone in the Virgin Islands know the answer???

“WHICH political leader in the Caribbean is under investigation by the US government for using foreign aid to renovate his palatial home? The $443,000 spent was falsely listed as “security and road improvements.”

    Go figure!

Can a governor be recalled for embarrassing his people before the entire free and democratic world?

Where can we find a politician who even tries to be honest with the people?

  19. Good Grief on September 3, 2009 at 8:24 am

Once our elected leaders become politicians, they cease to be honest.

    Can’t argue with that!
