The Time Is Now

July 28, 2009

Dear Sen. Neville James,

The time is now.James,%20Neville

There is no need to wait any longer. Schedule the committee hearings. Start the testimony so we can settle once and for all the full extent of the abuse of power this Administration appears to have committed against the people of the United States Virgin Islands.

You issued subpoenas. The deadline to respond, we understand, is 5 p.m. today, July 28. You should have documents. Truth is, you could start the sessions with information from the documents that have been posted on this website. You know who should testify and you know what to ask. What else do you need?

You called the situation “indefensible” and said you’d convene the hearings at the appropriate time.

Well the only thing more “indefensible” than the Administrations’ apparent actions would be to delay these hearings one moment longer.

The time is now.

Sincerely,

The People of the United States Virgin Islands

If Neville drop the ball we should vote him out

Has anyone wondered why the long delay on the subpeona’s, the hearing, and other matters? I heard about Hills ties to the Limited Liability Company in Dominica. Unfortunately, Senate President Hill used Senator Neville James to get the Presidency. Now I guess, Senator James is ending up with so much egg in the face. I can’t wait for the media to ask about the contracts and employee roster of the Legislature.

Senator Neville James will continue stalling so the administration can develop the ideal defense. Who is he fooling?

    Collette-
I hear your pain. What is being done??
Governor why don’t you address the issues?
    Where is Dr. Terry?
How did the presentation of the Alexander Hamilton awards go in DC? Photo Op?
Governor- Why don’t you talk to the people of the Virgin Islands about your trip to DC? Press Conference?

Colette, what is it with your infatuation with Senator Donastorg. Are you involved with him? We exposed him trying to fool the voters with his bogus degree from Madison Unversity and you’re still into his fraudulent behavior. By the way, we’re doing a story in Thursday’s edition about Mafoliegate. The governor looks like he’s in big trouble.

  5. More and more and more... on July 28, 2009 at 11:46 pm

Daily News Reader…in looking at your continuum of responses or rather reactions, you seem to be more the one with the infatuation with Sen. Donastorg. As for Universities, nothing can be more bogus and deceitful than the one your gov went to. Imagine, no grades! As for your Daily News, they need to get with the program and start to publish the news. They are hoping to be here to stay. We can’t say the same for this administration!

More and more and more, we don’t have a governor. We have a newspaper. A Pulitzer Prize winning newspaper that is. We cover the news irrespective of who gets good reviews or bad. Just thought you might want to know that.

  7. Colette on July 29, 2009 at 12:50 am

    Daily News Reader,

There you go again trying to distort the issues. I have to thank more and more and more..for realizing you appear to be the one that has some sort of infatuation for the Senator. For the record, I only have an infatuation for my 15 year old son who incidentally read all the blog and concluded your obsession with Senator Donastorg. In any event I would be hopefully that we share one thing in common, we agree the Governor needs to be dealt with accordingly. Would you not agree? I guess it fascinates you to take a stave at some of us to try and divert from the real issue.

  8. Kiven on July 29, 2009 at 5:12 am

I totally agree with you Colette

  9. Stella on July 29, 2009 at 5:36 am

Come on guys do you think Neville wants to see his brother out of a job b/c this administration is voted out of office? This is why he’s stalling this investigation soo that governor and his legal team can come up with the best defense….THINK ABOUT IT,

I’m not surprise at what is happening with hill I have always felt that we was to sly and of course even though he served in the military DOMINICA IS STILL FIRST IN HIS MIND he will use whoever and whatever to get what he wants. He was under the wings of the Turnbull administration and to get the presidency he got neville James to assist him. I’m not to worried because the talk on the street is that he is digging his own grave. He also need to stop calling person on their job when his Dominican friends can’t get what they want! I simple refuse to watch ANY senate hearing where he is presiding!

  12. Governor Why? on July 29, 2009 at 9:15 am

Governor John P. de Jongh, how was it possible for William Koenig to get a Virgin Islands business license and certificate approved by your administration? Governor, in light of all public evidence now available on William Koenig WMK Mechanical Group, have you, the chief executive officer of the Virgin Islands taken any action to revoke William Koenig business license / certificate? Governor, why did you and your Attorney General contract this known convicted criminal who has been previously sentenced to prison for defrauding the United States Virgin Islands? Governor, when can the Virgin Islands community finally see you not neglect your job and protect the community’s interest? Virgin Islands law requires that you revoke convicted criminal William Koenig Virgin Islands business credentials because he has been previously sentenced to prison for 24 months for defrauding the Government of the United States Virgin Islands.

Governor, why did you do this to, us, the people of these great United States Virgin Islands?

Here is what Virgin Islands law say about this:

    VIRGIN ISLANDS CODE

    TITLE TWENTY-SEVEN Professions and Occupations

Chapter 9 Licensing of Businesses and Occupations

§ 304. Denial, revocation or suspension of licenses; hearing; appeal

    (a) The Commissioner, after notice and hearing, may refuse to issue, or may revoke or suspend a license for any one or any combination of the following causes

    (2) Where the Commissioner finds that because of the moral character or previous misconduct of the applicant or licensee, relevant to the conduct of the business or occupation for which the license is sought or has been granted, such applicant or licensee is not a suitable or fit person and the denial, revocation or suspension of the license is accordingly necessary to protect the public welfare, health, morals or safety.

    (3) Where the licensee allows, permits or suffers on the licensed place or business any improper or wrongful behavior of a substantial character and of public concern.

    (4) Where the licensee has violated or breached any term or condition of the license as established under the provisions of subsection (b), section 303 of this chapter.

    (a) The provisions of subsection (a) of this section shall be applicable to each member, officer, or employee of a partnership or corporation who is to exercise the powers conferred by the license and to the manager or operator of a place of business, licensed under the provisions of this chapter.

    (h) At all hearings the Attorney General or an Assistant Attorney General shall appear and represent the Commissioner.

    Governor Why?

Don’t you find it rather strange that the current Attorney General Vincent Frazier names appears on the conviction documents of William Koenig? He was fully knowledgeable of the Koenig case and still rendered approval of all contracts involving Mr. Koenig. I smell a rat here. This is spiraling out of control and someone needs to find a captain of the ship quick.

As for “Daily News Reporter”, its a really sad day for Virgin Islanders when this Pulitzer Prize winning paper can justify their lack of coverage. We understand your commitment to the dejongh administration clearly, whether they are wrong or wrong, but I think the people of the Virgin Islands are waking up to the “bad journalism”, that supports corruption at its highest level. We only hope that our young are not mislead down the road of destruction assuming it is ok to follow our misleaders for they can steal then they can do it as well. This assessment may not make much sense to you but I hope it resonate with the rest of your peers. I don’t see the administration serving by example….they have gone backward. The Turnbull/Richards administration were Angels to this group of dejongh rebels. I could never forget the famous chant by dejongh….”out with the old and in with dejongh” (the young). Sadly enough I will have to assume they must now be operating in a different world…their own world of deceit. As this world turns…

This is beginning to get very, very interesting. Panic is taking place at all levels. Hmmmmmmmm.

  15. Annie on July 30, 2009 at 3:55 pm

It is Hill that is stalling on the Gov hearings………it is Hill that sets the agenda for the full senate to question the participants involved in the contracts. Wanna bet Frazier and selected administration cronies in the senate are either MIA or ask meaningless questions to the panel? Watch who asks what. Hill needs to vacate the presidency until a FULL investigation on his finances and work for Dominica while a sitting senator has been completed. If Frazier was doing his job and not adhering only to selected laws, we would have full disclosures on ALL top level government officials via Act 1105.
James sold out to the Dem majority instead of being his own man. We will see if his so called adverse relationship with the administration and the Gov is a show or truly a love fest in disguise. Watch the hearings and listen to the questions. Sanes will roll over, Dowe will be a wimp, Hill should sink under his desk in disgrace, White, Barshinger, W. James, Sprauve and Williams will ask weak questions.
Only Nellie, Usie, Donastorg and Terrance will ask the hard questions as they always do having been fully prepped and prepared. STT needs to wake up come next election and get rid of the same old same old who run these islands from a senate chair.

  16. Anonymous on July 30, 2009 at 4:39 pm

I think you are right on the money, Annie. We need to show up to this hearing in mass and demand answers.

  17. And the beat goes on... on July 31, 2009 at 11:23 pm

On the Leg website Calendar, Aug 11 is set aside for the meeting of the Committee on Financial Service, Infrastructure and Consumer Affairs. http://www.legvi.org/LEGVI2008/calendar/LegislativeCalendar.pdf Is this Neville long awaited meeting? Note it is the day after the hearing for Public Works.

  18. The James Investigation on August 1, 2009 at 11:24 am

    Thanks Beat!

You just might be right. This could be the day for the James Investigation to kick off on the floor of the senate. The Honorable Senator will handle his and the people’s business.

The thing to watch is whether or not Sen Hill and Dowe will move the gold post again to delay the James Investigation.

  19. Anonymous on August 1, 2009 at 7:30 pm

Is anyone hearing about an imminent senate shake up? The word on the streets is Senator Neville James will become the new senate president passing the baton of his Committee on Financial Services, Infrastructure and Consumer Affairs to Senator Nereida “Nellie” Rivera-O’Reilley. The Chairman, Appropriations and Budget will be turned over to Senator Craig W. Barshinger.

  20. good guy on August 1, 2009 at 8:30 pm

The Honorable Senator Nellie Rivera O”Reilly is a “Lioness”. She would better serve the people as the chair of Appropriations and Budget.

Barshinger is deWolf’s court Jester. Wake up Craig. DeWolf did not back you in the last two elections. You are being used.
