Traffic Jam At The DMV

DMV Traffic Jam

A recent visit to the Department of Motor Vehicles on St. Croix reminded us of some of the improvements that were promised that apparently still haven’t been kept.

Some of the long lines pictured here would certainly be alleviated if just one of these promised measures was put in place.

The ability to register and renew registrations on line or by mail for cars up to five years old would save significant time and dollars for residents who must spend an excessive amount of time under the current system to address these routine vehicular requirements.

Can anyone provide us with an update?

In the defense of DMV, I went through inspection lane 2 weeks ago. In and out in the blink of an eye. Fast and courteous vehicle inspection outside, rapid handling of paperwork inside; I have no complaints.
But I always come prepared: books to read, water and maybe a snack. But now, with AC, CNN, friends galore, why, it’s like Old Home Week. I should go out there more often, just to sit comfortably, visit and chat wid me padnahs-dem, and catch up on de melee.
Seriously, compared to donkey years ago, it’s like lightning now). Speaking of the phrase “donkey years”, I happened to hear it said in the old movie, “Around The World in 80 Days” starring David Niven. When actor Robert Morley uttered those nimble words I sat bolt upright. Looking at my companion I said, did you hear that? He said “donkey years”. Imagine, a British actor, in a move made (in Hollywood? Pinewood Studios?) in the early 60′s… Go figure. I thought that phrase was uniquely Caribbean. Wha. Dem peeple tief we ting de man.

Don’t think that it would be fix under Jerris Browne, especially when he have a whole lot to worry about when it comes to his son in jail.

    Snarkhappy,

I guess the Callwoods will stop at nothing. I have carefully studied this attack on Senator Donastorg and I beg to defer. Can we now go back to the real issue? Did the Governor “confirm or deny” to date? This is not about Senator Donastorg guys, its about good government. Its not about the Callwoods checkered past or any of the personal attacks. It is only but the professional thing to do; stick to the real issues. I expect for this site to be bombarded with endless distractions and other arguments that perhaps will have no substance. Lets move on with some educated discussions. We all have our respective skeletons, and the Callwoods should be very familiar with this. Now, where is the Governor these days and when is he going to respond to Senator Donastorg. I am still yet to see any documents that refute the Senators claim.

    Collette–

My post was aimed at Nellie O’Reilly. Donastorg has not yet completed his online degree. And, if you had studied my post carefully you would not have attributed it to the Callwoods. My English is far superior.

BTW– Blogs and bloggers are far from professional!!

Nellie has one of those so-called online degree?

  14. Snarkhappy on July 13, 2009 at 1:10 pm

Yup. Check her biography on the Senate website.

What kind of degree ensures honesty and integrety?

  16. Persona Non Grata on July 13, 2009 at 1:16 pm

    oops! integrity

There is no degree that assures either in a person. However, a real degree coupled with those qualities is my preferred choice. Must we always advocate ignorance and champion lack of educational achievment? Jesus!!!

Snarkhappy…check out the Gov. education….Antioch College! A learning institution for the kids of rich folks…they never received grades (of course as long as the parents kept sending plenty money)…just an evaluation! Now you give me a break!!!!

  19. Pandora on July 14, 2009 at 8:27 am

I think Antioch College shuttered its doors recently.

    And the beat goes on—

I have never voted for deJongh! I don’t find him to be very intelligent. I feel the same way about Donasrorg. My position is not just a degree–it’s a degree from a reputable institution coupled with certain character traits that wow me. Are you really faulting me for having high standards?

Just because Donastorg is bringing certain things to light, does not mean that I should support him for Governor. This is what they are all supposed to be doing. I don’t give extra credit for stuff that you are supposed to do. I do give him kudos for having the balls to buck the system– but that’s all he gets.
