Governor: Confirm or Deny

July 1, 2009

It appears that before there was an $85,000 Guardhouse and a $98,000 Security Fence, there was a $156,000 driveway laid at Governor John P. deJongh, Jr.’s personal residence.

Yes, we are serious.

The attached documents show that in October, 2007, Darryl Smalls, then Commissioner Designee of the Department of Public Works, gave the notice to proceed on the driveway project to the Better Roads and Asphalt Company of St. Thomas.

Cost of this project? Reportedly, $156,160 of local and federal Highway Funds.

Clearly some explanation is required, and Senator Adlah “Foncie” Donastorg has requested it.

In a letter to the Governor dated July 1, 2009, Sen. Donastorg has challenged deJongh to “confirm or deny specifically as to whether this and other improvement projects actually took place and were paid for in whole or in part with public funds.”

In a separate letter, also dated July 1, Donastorg has also requested that Smalls produce and deliver to him “all documents and records of Public Works Department endeavors associated with repairs and improvements to Governor John deJongh’s personal residence at 23-8 Estate Mafolie” by close of business on July 1.

In our opinion, any responsible public official would promptly refute assertions of the serious nature that these inquiries represent if, in fact, they were incorrect or grounded in inaccurate information.

We’re waiting.

Governor: confirm or deny.

What guard booth with a shower and mirror? You mean the one on his private property?

There is a march around Jericho’s Wall; that wall will fall!

Seems like CIF has just removed from this site some of the most recent postings from crucian4life.

    GOOD!!!!

Sorry CIF, I’ll try to maintain my emotions. This issue is emotional for all sides but fair is fair. If you sensor one, sensor all. Isn’t this what free speech is about. There are many in this forum that want to make this a one sided forum. Look at the insults that has been waged against me. CIF, if you allow this one sided forum to happen you are no longer a credible source for the world to tune in to. I know the truth hurts many of those that is now critical of the gov. There are many in this forum that should also be taking responsiblity for the state of the territory. Frankly, we should vote them all out in 2010 and start over!

THIS SITE IS NOT CREDIBLE. THE WORLD NOW KNOWS THAT THIS WEB SITE, CRUCIANS IN FOUCS, HAS BEEN WAGING A PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN AGAISNT THE GOVERNOR AND THE COMMUNITY. THIS WEB SITE HAS CHOSEN TO SILENCE THE VOICES OF OPPOSITIONS TO ITS PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN THROUGH SENSORSHIP. THIS SITE HAS BEEN PROVEN, THROUGH ITS OWN SENSORSHIP ACTIONS, NOT TO BE A CREDIBLE SOURCE OF INFORMATION.

I REST MY CASE. CONFIRM OR DENY?

(WE WILL SEE IF THIS STATEMENT IS ALSO SENSORED)

  7. crucian4life on July 18, 2009 at 1:01 pm

BY THE WAY CIF, EVIDENCE OF SENSORSHIP HAS BEEN RECORDED FOR FULL PUBLIC DISCLOSURE THROUGH OTHER MEDIA SOURCES A LATER DATE.

    Umm, crucian4life, it’s Censorship.
If you’re going to complain, at least spell it properly.

Hey Guys, please don’t let them take you off track. This clandestine approach is obviously intended to shift your focus. Whatever is discussed in this forum will not be the deciding factor, it will be what a higher authority deems necessary after their findings. While the Senate have the authority to sensor the Governor, I am not sure they will have any recourse when it comes to penalizing him. However, the Federal Government has the authority to prosecute any elected official in the Virgin Islands who has engaged in any criminal activity. From all appearances, the Federal U.S. Attorney General is the only entity that has the authority to deal with the Governor and his non-sense. Let the detractors bask in this reality, afterall they can hide behind bogus names and post as they wish. I guess they are not concern because they don’t have to worry about bowing their heads in shame because their identity remains unknown. I wish the wrenches the best of luck and disgrace in paradise.

I thought The Clock Is Ticking clearly wrote that the word is censor and not sensor. Please people, the incorrect spelling is very annoying, not to mention embarassing when posters here are going after each other with intent to kill. GET IT TOGETHER PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Anonymous
I think The Clock is Ticking got it right. I think you need to get it together.

Censorship is the suppression of speech or deletion of communicative material which may be considered objectionable, harmful.

A sensor is a device that measures a physical quantity and converts it into a signal which can be read by an observer or by an instrument.

Been gone for a while. As soon as I return I get jokes. 2 Anonymous fighting over censor & sensor. Crucian In Focus is really Crucian Is Joke Plus.

It is about principle, not personality; it is about the message, not the messenger(s).

The topic on the “use” of “public funds” to enhance “private property” is a very simple and uncomplicated matter.

    It is wrong!

In what sequence of order must it be said?

In how many languages must it be said?

In what other ways must it be said?

If you take a smelly “out-house” and plant pretty flowers around it and paint it with pastel colors, it does not change a thing. It still stinks.

If you do not believe me, go in a take a smell.

Eyes Wide Open, thank you for restating the essence of this topic. More of us need to realize that if the person at the top of this adminstration is blatantly abusive of our resources, the others in it are likely to be just as self-serving. This “security” construction at gov. de Jongh’s private property may be just the tip of a large iceberg. In this tiny territory we simply cannot afford this magnitude of wasteful and currupt spending. The investigation needs to begin soon. We must know whether we have leadership we can trust or not. Our government is borrowing huge amounts of money, and we must have confidence in the people we have elected to manage our resources and plan for our future.

Anonymous, you are chastising people about incorrect spelling and you are doing it too? When you point one finger out, a few pointing back at you? So you need to get it together!!!

It Is Sunday, but I am not on a Sabbatical; In Fact, I Feel like Preaching.

When it comes to wrong, it is like sin.

We all know the consequence of sin is punishment. Even the Good Book tells us this.

We all know we should not defend wrong. So why do it!

It is said that the mouth is door of the mind, and the mind is the host of the spirit.

I clearly remember what came out the mouths of my parents and grandparents; it spoke of their spirit and of a people’s values, ethics, and morals.

Today, what comes out of the “mouths” of persons defending the administration’s wrong(s) is satanically shocking.

Do you remember the Wall of Jericho? It fell!

Today, we have our Wall of Jericho, “using public funds” to enrich “private property.”

On which side of today’s Wall of Jericho do you find yourselves, and most importantly, WHY?

  17. The Clock Is Ticking on July 19, 2009 at 1:31 pm

    Thank you Eyes,
The fact is that in the end, this will be alarmingly simple.
Because it is ultimately a simple matter of right and wrong.
And as history has taught us, time and again, the truth will out in the end. No amount of contrived press or lofty rhetoric or even stoic silence can change that simple fact.
And this time won’t be any different.
It will all come out in the end.
