Rest In Peace

Michael Jackson Slide

Never mind all the weird stuff. We challenge you to replicate the lightning strike you felt the first time you saw the moon walk or the Thriller video. From child prodigy to international megastar, the man was an entertainer whose life was an intense combination of elation and tragedy.

And while the media frenzy will continue, we ask you to remember the music. When all else has passed away, that’s the legacy that should remain.

Rest in peace, Michael.

I never really saw a Michael Jackson video, show, interview, nothing. Only part of a clip here and there, sometimes a song. Heard about his moonwalk and dancing skills. Read about his trials and tribulations. Dreary stuff.

And then one day boom! he left us. And I woke up. Paid attention. Really really looked at the man. And then, only then, did I see his incredible genius.

But it was only after he died, did I understand what I was looking at. While he was alive, he was taken for granted. Like Pavarotti, Sinatra, Lennon and countless others, we tend not fully realize what we have until they’re gone.

    But Michael was way different.

He’s gone now. We had hoped maybe it was stunt, something to lend mysteriousness to his upcoming world tour. But alas, no. He’s really gone, so unexpectedly, so suddenly, I feel a deep sense of loss and sadness, hard to explain. Like a part of my past, my childhood, my youthfulness was taken away.

Micahel’s passing is bigger than we realize.

I grew up with Michael and saw him when I was 3 yrs old on the Ed Sullivan Show. My mom always told me how excited I got when we heard him sing. This was my first experience seeing young black people star on a TV program.

Michael to me is a one of a kind performer who transends all age groups. He apeals to all races. He may seem weird to others, but I see him as an artist who lived his role.

Michael will be missed, but his legacy will live on in me and my family.

I grew up listening and watching Michael and his brothers, in his family as in ours there was always some trouble, I will always remember him and my favorite song in MAN IN THE MIRROR, a song which is true for ALL, he speak about making changes in our personal lives to make this world a better place. I hope that this Thursday one week after his untimely passing a radio will play his songs for 24 hrs.

    Greetings,

I have always been a Michael Jackson Fan and will aways remain one. As I grew up with Michael in the 70’s I watched him and the Jackson 5 become role models for millions of children all over the world, especially on TV. Many of us was glued to the TV for we finally had a chance to see ourselves staring on TV. Everyone wanted to be like Michael Jackson or one of the Jackson 5 in the 70’s and even now.

Whatever, we may think of Michael’s personal life we cannot change the fact that his music have touched the hearts of many, and as difficult as it may have been for us to understand who Michael truly was as a person “we nonetheless, loved him”, irregardless to the rumors, the allegations or the facts.

To many of us Michael will always be the youngest member of the Jackson 5 who stole our hearts and kept it. This is true for all ages and all races. He was able to bring us together. Michael Jackson set the stage as a young performer to a level of excellance that even throughout the years when he was not performing you just couldn’t top the King of Pop. He was able to take music to a level that many only dream of, and gave pride to a nation, who loved him inspite of.

Today, Michael Jackson have given the world a trill they never will forget, but most of all he has left us with a legacy that said it’s Ok to be different. I am not referring to any of the sexual allegations about him, but how he looked, how he dressed – mainly the person we saw as Michael on Stage.

I pray that Michael Jackson will now find Eternal Peace as he rest in the arms of his Saviour.

    Blessing!

    Shirley

He is not the youngest Jackson. Marlon and Janet are younger than him.

Are you all seeing what CNN is trying to do to the memory of Michael Jackson?

I used to respect and admire Anderson Cooper. He started “ticking” me off from his coverage of President Barack Obama, but now I can confirm that he is just WHITE TRASH.

  7. Bull Foot Soup on June 30, 2009 at 8:04 am

MMM: all stations, all reporters, all the time must obey the Supreme Network Mantra: “if it bleeds, it leads”. Thus, in order to keep the audience hooked, creative license is envoked in recounting a story. Almost anything goes to keep you watching.
Anderson or any of the other junk news squawk-boxes (Fox, etc) are just trying to keep their ratings up. Sad but true.
What they can’t touch, what they can’t change, what they can’t take away, is what Michael did to us and for us. Not only us, but probably the world. That is ours, unsullied, forever.
So if I were you, I’d change the channel.

    Greetings,

Crucian to me heart, I never said michael was the youngest of the Jackson Family. What I said was, he was the youngest of the “JACKSON 5″ and that’s a fact.

    Nonetheless, thank you!

Give Me Faith, if you are going to make strong comments towards someone you should have the guts to identify yourself. I like so many – dislike cowards… … Who are you?

Be that as it may, I pray that “God Will Bless You Today And Always”. I do believe it’s good when we can live with love for each other in our hearts rather than hate. I, therefore, forgive you for “attempting” to offend me.

Please Note: You don’t have to like me and that’s find with me, but I simply ask that “we” both try to be respectful to each other in the future.

You may want to start trying to be respectful towards others! You will discover that it does go a mighty long way, moreover, you just might like it. By the way, please know that I have no intention of going blow for blow with you, so whatever, is your next response to this or any future comments I may make please accept my silence to you, as my humble response …. …. You see, from this point on I will leave it to the readers to judge as to which one of us is truly…. … whatever. “Do Have A Bless Day”.

MMM, I listened also to what Anderson Cooper have to say and I have to agree with you in terms of him making me mad, do you know who is mother is? GLORIA VANDERBUILT
( her last name might be misspelled) remember she is the one who said that her jeans were not made to be worn by blacks!, What they say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. So when Anderson comes on the television i immediately turn to another channel.

May your soul Rest in Peace Michael Jackson. You are definitely in a better place than in the world where people were falsely accusing you for things you didn’t do.Their time will come.

  11. Mortal on July 6, 2009 at 11:16 pm

With all due respect Michael is not in any better place. Humans are not immortal. Thus contrary to some individual’s traditional beliefs we do not have souls that live forever. Nevertheless the world will sure be a different place without him as it would without you or me.

  13. Persona Non Grata on July 12, 2009 at 10:26 am

When I see what the media in now doing with the Michael Jackson story, I feel sad for this person (MJ) who was exploited in life and now in death. The media participated in the big build up and promotion of his music and life story, and now they continue to exploit him with a backlash of negative interviews and innuendo. CNN is becoming nothing more than a cheap rag.

  14. ladlie on August 1, 2009 at 10:48 pm

there are 2 cnn’s one is cnn and the other is hln, hln has turned into a tabloid rag because the sponsors want it
