Kurrisa Vialet Wins Crucians In Focus Scholarship Essay Contest
Crucians In Focus (CIF) is pleased to announce that St. Croix Educational Complex graduate Kurrissa Vialet has won the Crucians In Focus Scholarship Essay Contest.
Kurrissa will receive $5,000 to be used toward her education at the University of South Florida.
Students were asked to compose a five-page essay on the life of President Barack Obama and discuss how the leadership characteristics he possesses can be used to help them be successful in their academic pursuits and ultimately assist them as future leaders in the Virgin Islands. Essays were evaluated on:
1. The quality of the writing of the essay, including correct use of the language and the composition of the document;
2. The degree to which the essay followed the essay topic, and;
3. The strength of the correlation the writer made between Obama’s leadership characteristics and their quest for success academically and as future leaders of the Virgin Islands.
Congratulations to Kurrissa and her parents, Kurt and Wanda Vialet. Her winning essay is posted on our website at cruciansinfocus.com.
CIF would also like to thank our judges The Honorable Senator Nellie O’Reilly and Attorney Vince Colianni, and our donors O’Reilly, Colianni, Attorney Jerry Groner and Attorney Derek M. Hodge.

GREAT JOB KURRISA KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. TO EVERYONE AT CRUCIANS IN FOCUS MAY THE GOOD LORD BLESS YOU ALL.

Congratulations to Kurt and Wanda a job well done.
Greetings,
Crucians In Focus this is great! I would first like to congratulate Kurrissa on a job well done. I also would like to wish her the very best in all her future endeavors. Good luck Kurrissa. “May God Continue To Bless And Direct Your Path Always”.
I must, however, extend a big congratulation to Crucians In Focus for doing the Scholarship Essay Contest and awarding $5,000.00 to Kurrissa Vialet. Today, with the world’s hard economic crisis that all of us are presently facing, added to the overwhelming expensive cost of a good college education mandates that any assistance our children can get to assist them in their pursuit of higher learning is a plus.
I, therefore, salute Crucians In Focus for their community mindedness in giving back to the community, but more so, in giving to our youths. For our children are our most valued and priceless asset and we as a coomunity must always provide opportunties for them to grow.
Currently, in our community the youth violence and school dropout rates are at an all time high, any and all incentives that we as a community can give to our children in order to encourage them to excel in my book is indeed an added plus. Thank you… … Thank you… … Thank you!!! I publicly applaud you for standing up to the plate and hitting a home run, for $5,000.00 in today’s economic hard times is truly a great help.
I applaud CIF for rejecting the view of so many of its posters (that the youth are ’sex crazed killers, etc..) and embracing one that empowers the youth.
While I would have liked to see the award go to someone from less priviliged backgrounds (not the daughter of a principal) I applaud CIF for doing good in the community. Kudos!
