Help Us Understand
We’re confused about something.
Government House responded Sunday to allegations by Sen. Adlah “Foncie” Donastorg that Gov. John deJongh Jr. misspent public funds on renovations underway at his private residence.
“Government House will not dignify the slanderous remarks being made by this public official beyond stating that there is absolutely no truth to the allegations that public funds are being spent on work that is underway at the governor’s private residence,” Government House Communications Director Jean Greaux said in a statement.
So are these private funds the PFA has approved in the attached letter?
Help us understand…

Regardless as to whether you believe the Governor has a legal right to fix up his private home or not, we must face the fact that government contracts were awarded and government checks issued to pay for the work that was done on his home.
What is going to happen now? Are there any reprecussions or does anything go as long as deWolf does it. Why are other Senators quiet about it. How can we get our newspapers objective again. Maybe a boycott of both papers and the Source would show them we don’t approve of the bias approach to news coverage.
We is who noticed that bb posted 1 minute after Sojourner Truth posted Foncie. We thank you for giving us real time evidence that you are “those” that we know you are in this thread. We read the Daily News despite your constant crying about what the newspaper doesn’t do.
Daily News Reader- Don’t you have anything better to say than kiss up to the governors a$$…why deh hell you gon think that Foncie have all day to sit here and right threads. He out there working hard for the people of the VI one thing deDUMB aint doing. Getting a pay check for sucking up AC in an office and thiefing the VI people money..Why don’t you accept the fact that deDUMB will be voted out of government house in 2010. It doesn’t necessarily have to be Foncie but anyone that runs against deDUMB will win . ENOUGH with these crooks.
PLEASE! This is not a matter meant to titilate or amuse. We cannot afford such a wasteful government.
There should be many more entries on this site from members of the community demanding an explanation. To deduce that there are only 3 or 4 is rediculous, but I have been expecting to see many more comments than this. I thank “Rican” and others for exposing the documents that appear to prove that government money is being spent on private property. There is no question in my mind that this is illegal.
Somewhere in the past we took a wrong turn in our government, and now the wrongdoing has become blatant. There are too many people keeping secrets and lying for each other. It will hurt, but the truth must come out.
I agree with you Betty. we need to get to the bottom of this all , because who will suffer at the end is we the Virgin Islands people. I think sooner or later whatever is going on will come to light, so whomever knows about this , must come out with it, Before things in the territory get much worse than they are.
The closer we get to the next election, the more deperation we are going see on this forum. Folks around here are already feeling the heat and lashing out.
My question is why dont we see the Governor himself addressing the issue ,or defend himself?
We have not heard from deWolf because he has on defense.
Did he file any slander charges against Donastorg?
Here’s what’s keeping the governor busy:

I just heard Recon talk about it on Mario. This might explain why all activity has ceased at the construction site. It’s not looking good.
I skimmed through the article and I have two points of concern. 1. The fact that the rating is “one notch above junk bonds” and 2. If this deal is causing PR to layoff 300+ workers, why are they only hiring about 40 locals to work? Did I miss read?
***typo correction…misread instead of miss read
The slander suit against the Senator Foncie is already in play. Just thought inquiring minds should know.
You read correctly. Diageo stated at the time that the new distillery would be state of the art and would therefore require less manpower to operate. We save them money all around.
As for anonymous’ comment on the slander suit, Jean Greaux’s statement about no public funds being used would nullify the suit if it were to be filed, but we all know it won’t be filed. The administration got caught with their pants down.
God knows what other stuff is out there to be uncovered.
Anonymous,
I once heard Redfield and Prosser say they were going to sue Fonce, but you seem to be an insider who has an axe to grind with Foncie. I just hope dewolf has all his ducks in place because the Senator is not that easy to deal with. Prosser was a lot bigger that dewolf so I truly hope they are geared up for a challenge because from all accounts I heard the Senator say he has his documents to prove his claims. He said this during the Prosser saga and low and behold he was right. Let the games begin…….
Colette,
This one is going to get nasty. The DeJongh ammunition for Senator Foncie is building muscle by the minute. I’m not that famaliar with the specifics of the Prosser suit, but this one is very real. They have major issues with Donastorg and plan to go to no end if need be.
how can this get nasty when the facts are there.this administration needs to start packing their boxes to make room for the next governor.
Can you say “Governor Francis”? deWolf will be out as soon as the evidence gets to the Feds.
” Governor Francis”? dewolf will be out as soon as the evidence get to the Feds. I ‘m joining you in the saying.
(smile)
If I recall, the Governor indicated “no public funds were used” and challenged Senator Donastorg to write the appropriate authority if he thinks this actually took place. Now, the Governor is saying they used funds to provide basic security repairs based on the recommendations of a security consultant. Well, I thought the real issue was the use of Public Funds. So I guess the Feds should be trying to determine if any public funds were used since the Governor emphatically denied this. Based on the documentation we have seen on this site, it appears the Governor has told a bold face lie. So what happens next? Is the Governor going to then say, Senator Donastorg was right and the money is going to be repaid? I am looking forward to see how this one is going to conclude because I would hope if a law was broken then he should face the wrath of the law and not be permitted to continue in office after repaying the money. This would send a terrible signal to those who have went to jail for stealing government money. I can name a few. In St. Thomas, didn’t Rodney Miller and Amos Carty face charges on abuse of tax payers money? The Governor needs to own up and step down before it gets embarrassing. Or is he really saying the documents were doctored to make it appear real… Yeah right! I guess as I read on the source, he is going to file suit against Senator Donastorg….but then again for what? Since when you can sue someone for telling the truth. As I said, the Senator was not one of my favorites but we need to thank him for shedding some light on this. I consider myself to be a fair observer and unbias, therefore it is only but fitting that we don’t allow anyone to skew this issue as Roger Morgan and others have attempted to do. It won’t work…shame of them.
