Where exactly are the documents that show hundreds of thousands/millions spent on this guardhouse. This is getting good.

Seems like the Turnbull days are back…or never left. I wonder how Jean Greaux is going to spin this one.

we on st. croix are depending on MARIO to give us the information about this blatant act that the governor is now performing.we are suffering and the deWOLF family is living the life of the rich and famous, using tax payers money to rebuild there private residence on st.thomas.can anyone explain to me how can a security house cost 82,000.00 dollars and a fence 98,000.00 dollars. those two figures can build two homes for families on st croix.PLEASE MARIO KEEP THE PEOPLE INFORMED ABOUT THE CORRUPTION AND MISMANAGEMENT THAT IS GOING ON IN THIS ADMINISTATOIN.

These documents do not say anything except that there was a contract to construct a guard-house for 82K. What has been alleged by some is that the money to fund the guard-house was funded by PFA money. Until I see such a connection, the governor has done nothing wrong in my book.

With regards to the Organic Act and the residence of the governor, the Act states that the Official Residence is in the Governor’s mansion. What about the unofficial residence of the Governor? The Act does not forbid the governor from living in another place.

With regards to Jean Greaux’s comments, why would anyone seek the help of the AG and the IG? Those agencies are in the Executive Branch of government. With regards to the AG, he is the personal attorney for the Governor. The correct branch of government would be the Legislative Branch, but can we rely on the majority to effectively research this issue?

    Hey Kenrick,

Interesting observation. I read the section of the Organic Act and it appears this was a safeguard to protect tax papers money from abuse. Can you imagine a Governor using tax money to make significant improvements on his property, leave office, then sell his property and walk away with the entire proceeds? Something is wrong with this picture. Not to mention, according to Mario, monies was used from the PFA. If this is true, this poses a serious conflict of interest..is the Governor not the Chair of the same PFA pursuant to Law? This is sure going to be interesting.

I could swear that I heard a senator questioning Julito Francis about some expenditures by the PFA, and the response was that the PFA did not have to ask the Legislature for permission to spend that money. The reason was that the money was generated by the PFA and not by a bond issue or loan. Unfortunately, the Senator did indicate what expense he was referring to. Did anyone hear this too?

Colette – The Organic Act is flawed with regards to the official residence of the governor just as it was with the Public Law authorizing us to write a constitution.

I doubt Marcus can use a computer, but after reading those comments, I would venture to say it sounds like a blend of Marcus and the “Cruzan Educator”. I guess the administration needs 2 people pushing Marcus wheelbarrow this year.

I know this is free speech and all…but why do we have to resort to name-calling? You can defend your governor without resorting to this type of rancor.

  11. The Observer on June 23, 2009 at 10:19 am

oops…my bad…this is Crucians in Focus…free speech is that radio show…so, can we focus on the issues and leave out the name calling and personal attacks?

It makes me cry to see how the taxpayers money is being spent. When the current Governor gets out of office will the people be able to go and remove this guard house from his property so it can be used by future governors if they choose to stay at their private residence and if this is not possible will deJongh reimburse the taxpayers for this structure to remain on his property.

it seems like marcus,deWOLF and cruzan educator all went to the same school. they are all sick people we have to get DR. Kenrick,

Let me understand your defense of the Governor’s actions. Are you saying the Governor can enrich himself at the expense of tax payers because the Organic Act is flawed? Lets assume public funds where used to improve his personal residence, are you saying he can then sell the house and keep all monies? What exactly is your point here? Are you saying that all future Governor’s can have unlimited access to spend money on their personal residence? Can someone put this in perspective? I refuse to beleive this is legal. I guess Kenrick you must be a part of this administration and assumed the responsibility of applying damage control for the Governor. I cannot beleive your comments were based on any kind of research. If so, can you tell me which or how many past Governors did the same thing? I will await your qualified answer.

  16. Kenrick on June 24, 2009 at 8:08 am

    Colette,

You are tickling me with this comment, “Kenrick must be a part of this administration.” You obviously do not know me. I am one of the biggest DeJongh critics that you will find. I am not ignorant, and I tend not to get emotional.

To stick with the issue, this website has posted nothing to indicate that the DeJongh administration has broken any law or done anything wrong. All this site gave us is a a set of contracts for work to be done on the governor’s personal residence. Perhaps I missed it, but I do not recall that any indication was made of where the money came from. When I see that I will be on the administration like white on rice.

I agree with Kenrick’s position, however after reading the documents in the post titled “Help Us Understand”, I’m beginning to see some evidence. Let’s hope there’s more to come because what I was hearing on the radio indicated there is a lot more money involved. I just don’t understand why the media refuses to touch this subject. Do they love the governor so much that they’re willing to overlook possible wrongdoing? At least analyze the documents and provide a report.

  18. Lord Send Help on June 24, 2009 at 9:12 am

Are we to assume that Gov John DeJongh is paying for this out of his pocket? It does not take much to see that this guard house is being built with GOVERNMENT FUNDS. No private citizen would have the Comm.of Public Works, Comm.of Prop.& Proc and Att.Gen signing off on a contract between the GOVERNMENT AND A CONTRACTOR. Obviously the money is coming from government funds. And when I read this online copy of the contract #27 and #28 it clearly states that the Contractor acknowledges that this contract is funded, in whole or in part by federal funds. So, I ask, is dejongh personal bank account funded by government or federal funds? or Why wasn’t this contract made between John DeJongh and the contractor without government appointed employees signing off on it? WHERE DO WE DRAW THE LINE WITH HOW GOVERNMENT FUNDS ARE USED!

  19. Sojourner Truth on June 24, 2009 at 9:15 am

Kenrick the gov’t does not enter into contracts they are not paying for.

  20. Puzzled on June 24, 2009 at 10:03 am

    Interesting point Sojourner Truth.
