As the Chairperson for the Committee on Education, Youth and Culture, first-term Senator Janette Millin-Young has received more notoriety for her travel preferences than for any substantive actions to address the glaring issues in our educational system.
Thought of initially as one who would quietly follow, Millin-Young has shown recent faint glimmers of enlightenment, but our jury is still out on where she will fall as we enter a phase where all elected officials will be called upon to take a stand – on one side of the line or the other.
But for now, it’s your opinion we’re interested in. If the election was held today…
As many of you heard recently, CIF President Michael Springer, at left, delivered the first in a series of radio announcements that will target specific issues and offer analysis on our most pressing concerns.
The feedback on the comments was extremely positive, so CIF will sponsor then as often as possible, and we thank those of you who have already donated! But airtime costs money and we're seeking your help.
If you'd like to help keep our voices on the air, please donate whatever you can using the PayPal button below. We thank you in advance for your support.
Be sure to click on the link below to see the latest iReport on our crippling corruption and scroll down to the comments. A wolverine posting under the name of "Bornyah" is trying to tell the world that the information that's getting some widespread attention is just "half-truth" from "disgruntled" people.
Nice try, Keep on reading and posting people. And send these links to everyone you know!
This past weekend, one of our CIF bloggers started a campaign to post the stories of our discontent on CNN iReports. If you scroll through the blogs from the past three days, you will see that this campaign has grown some very long legs in a very short time.

Legislature employee do you have a high school diploma??? You need to go back to primary school to learn how to write and spell. But from the way you are writing we all could tell that you are a CHILD and a very ignorant one at that. The only thing the senators are doing for the people of the Virgin Islands are stealing, cheating, and lying to us.
P.S. No need to respond to me. Love you all
My goodness….a “legislative employee”, hope this is not a representation of the Legislature in reality. Oxymoron (sic)…”damn good” really speaks about this person’s level of intellect. I heard they hired a couple convicts in the past two years in the Legislature. I wonder if they care to elaborate on this. Do these people possess real skills/degrees or was this just political favors extended to family members? Lolo Willis continues to sham his way through life and this is indeed a disservice to the citizens of the Virgin Islands because it continues to be at the expense of tax payers. And just a tit bit, I am convinced this is Lolo Willis commenting, he is striving a little to hard to convince us. If this is not him then its someone representing him. I am so disappointed in Senator Hill for stealing a Presidency, then hiring the worse of the worse, then concealing information on both Senator Richards sexual harrasment case and Legislative records. These bandits need to be taught a lesson. Would you guy’s not agree. And what about our plight to have 6905 addressed? I don’t know about St. Thomas but here on St. Croix we are waiting to see what Senator Neville James and the rest of the bandits do. We are watching closely. They lied to us during the election; you promised you would address this once elected and now we realize it was just a sham. Well, election time we will see who got Shammed. And for Senator Michael “Do Nothing” Thurland, we heard you loud and clear about you had a job before you came to the Legislature. What an insult to us who thought you could make a difference. This is the most bizzare bunch I have ever seen in all my life. Most of them need to go and I really hope the voters don’t forget.
And just a little tit bit here. What is the real connection between Lolo Willis and Leroy Machena? I heard one represented corporate citizens and the other provided the tax clearance letter along with some suspensions of interest for a small fee. This is one contributing reason the Virgin Islands lost so much money. Perhaps the Feds may consider following the paper trial. How many of these companies did Mr. Machena represent? I got this from a reliable source within the Internal Revenue Bureau. Then again, the FEDs are so busy with other things.
When I heard that the legislative entrance was being remodeled I expected to see more colors that would make the area BRIGHT, NOT what i saw, but like someone said, they remove foncie, put in hill and he give lolo the ok for that awful entrance.
haters it looks nice…i just came from in there
Serves you all right for electing an idiot like Michael Thurland. The man cannot string several words together to create a coherent sentence. You were also forewarned with his performance at the Constitutional Convention. From that I gathered he was a raving lunatic (a really dumb one!!!). When are we seriously going to raise our standards as to who can represent us?
BTW–Just because someone states a negative/differing opinion, it does not make them a hater. It makes them a THINKER. I’ll take a negative/differing opinion over none any day!!
