ok well i went to work this am and asked one of the people i work with if they knew Mr.Springer and this person just started to laugh and wanted to know why, and i said well he announced his candidacy for senate and this person just laughed harder and said”they’re all going to be coming out of the woodwork” for 85 thousand and well this person is a many generational “crucian” not some down islander and ok i thought it was an odd response because everyone grew up together i mean STX is a small island, and so MR. Springer why should i vote for you or encourage people to vote for you, i guess as a voter i’d love to see you make a pledge to turn back 40 thousand of the salary you’d get if you win, i live just fine on 30 here why can’t you? Why are you running? Do you want honest change or the gov retirement check? how many friends/family/cronies will be on your payroll/ as a taxpaying voter i have a right to ask these questions

This is good news! I look forward to hear your ideas on how to improve the VI. You will get my vote.

Mr, Springer you have demonstrated true leadership skills when our elected representatives have not stood up for us in this community. I must say thank you for being the activist that you have been over the years, a true leader always take a stance on the issues that affect his or her community. Keep up the good works, you have our support.

We need new leadership in the legislature. Out with the
old. In with the New. You have my support. With the new St. Croix senators I hope you all are able to unite for the good of St. Croix. Hope you all can form a coalition.

  6. Crucian At Heart on April 7, 2008 at 10:48 pm

Well Mr. Springer, this is excellent news. I’ve watched you for a long time, and have admired your willingness to take the uncomfortable position in matters that mean so much to St. Croix and to the Virgin Islands. And now you’ve made it official. Be mindful now that you’ve stepped into the public arena that those who are comfortable with, and have made a good life, playing on the inefficiencies of a patronage based governnent may not be so pleased that you’ve thrown your hat in the ring. But a strong new voice like yours is exactly what’s needed to light the fire that’s necessary to move the territories out of the morass of complacency and incompetence that shows in the government each day and into the productive, progressive paradise we all know it can be. Best of luck Mr. Springer. You have my support.

This is excellent news for my family…….we are looking forward to meeting you this weekend Mr. Springer.

As with all of our declared candidates for the office of Senator here in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Mr. Springer will be judged not only on his promises and plans, but on his past performance. Many of us have seen the best of Mr. Springer in activities including his dissatisfaction over Act 6905. He appears to be one who is not content to simply be a “spectator”. For that, he is to be commended.

He will also be judged on those activities and deeds that may not have garnered the public attention of Act 6905. I urge all voters to consider every aspect of every candidate’s background and to vote wisely. Urge those with both good and bad experiences with each of our candidates, to speak out and “tell all”.

We have no one to blame but ourselves for wrong choices we have made in the past. Let’s make certain that every candidate receives the kind of careful review that will assure that we elect a group of senators whose promises are kept. We deserve no less.

    Roger W. Morgan

I think Mr. Springer will be a hell of a candidate, his record speaks for him. Mr springer your food sale was excellent, it was definately a pleasure speaking with you at the event….keep up the good work.

Had you, Roger W. Morgan, followed the very suggestions you are offering back in the 2006 campaign, St. Croix wouldn’t be suffering under the failed policies of Governor deJongh, the VI Democratic Party and VI Restore Hope.

Did you research Governor deJongh’s background when he was campaigning? You appear to depend on the local media to do your homework and you’ll soon realize how they manage to suppress stories that shed a less than positive light on the governor.

Indeed, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Take some time to view or hear some of the senate hearings for yourself rather than just reading the slanted summary presented by the local media. And while we are at it, can you name 3 campaign promises Governor deJongh has kept? In the words of Candidates Donastorg/Christian: We Deserve Better!

  11. A. Moorhead on April 14, 2008 at 9:01 am

Roger you got some serious issues, get a grip….what have the Governor done for the people of the Virgin Isalands thus far? Nothing.

  12. Indigenous Virgin Islander on April 17, 2008 at 2:25 pm

Michael Springer, you have to convince the Governor’s supporters that you have no malice towards their political leader. Many of them are in deep-seated denial that the Governor is doing a lousy job. According to Roger W. Morgan, he is doing an excellent job. I am not impressed with his performance so far. Where are the statistic to demonstrate that the V.I. is improving? In fact, the cost of living has increased and the crime situation is worse. His true colors were glaring during the Spampinato fiasco.Imagine the gall of him to pressure the senators to vote for someone who has a sealed record of misconduct (if the issue was benign it would not have to be sealed). Someone should investigate this matter thoroughly. How much of our tax money was used to pay Dr. Spampinato’s moving expenses and other benefits she received? I’m glad there were only four puppets willing to go along with the governor’s scheme. Honestly, I believed in the governor’s campaign message, but now I feel betrayed by him.Why does Roger W. Morgan question Paul Golden’s background, but does not have a shred of doubt about Dr. Spampinato’s? Perhaps, Morgan is getting money from Divi to help destroy Golden’s project. I hate to be cynical but in order to get people’s support for the Senate, a candidate has to play the political game. Learn from the spin masters and create a catchy slogan. Use the tactics of the governor. Sing the praises of Morgan and convince the suppoters of the adminisration that you can spring forward with a plan to help the governor get re-elected. Get the governor to endorse you (remember, politics make strange bedfellows).

  13. Jones on April 17, 2008 at 3:13 pm

Yes indeed it looks like Mr. Morgan has his thumb up his…..nonetheless no progress have been made by this administration thus far, and it appears that he doesn’t even have a plan to be Governor. I must admit that I was a strong supporter of this Governor….Mr. Springer you were right all along.

  14. A. Moorhead on April 19, 2008 at 9:51 am

That’s great, it looks like Mr. Morgan gets the message. For some strange reason Mr. Morgan appears to have tunnel vison. I believe that we must give credit when its deserved…..however as a former supporter of this administration I must say that they are not worthy of giving any credit. NO PROGRESS HAVE BEEN MADE YET GOVERNOR……WAKE UP

I’M FOR YOU MICHAEL, YOU CAN’T BE BE ANY WORSE THAN THEM

  17. Tambi on April 28, 2008 at 8:11 pm

Why don’t you just call this the “Anti deJongh” blog.

Wow, you attack Morgan for supporting deJongh when he says NOTHING about it in his comment.

    Who has the agenda here?

  18. West Ender on May 6, 2008 at 10:33 pm

An old Crucian women told me during the last campaign “I’m voting for XXXX because he is less crooked than YYYY. It will be near impossible to change the VI gov. I am considering to never visit the island again after over 20 years of vacationing there. I spend more time filing police reports than I do laying on the beach. Crime is horrible, I have been threatened with my life, spat on, accosted, my rental car has been vandalized the last 4 times I was there. Car rental repair cost me more than my weeks hotel bill. Are you the man that will fix this chaos. I truth, I think the FED needs to jump in.

  19. Real Deal on May 14, 2008 at 6:16 pm

The FED don’t need to jump into a damn thing around here. The most corrupt organization on the planet is the United States government. The only difference between the local and feds are: The FEDS can continue to build on it’s multi-TRILLION dollar indebtness while the local can’t. Furthermore, the local politicians are bought and paid for directly, while the Feds have created a layer of middlemen called LOBBYISTS. Please don’t get me started on the “FED”

Mr. Springer, do you have an online biography listing your accomplishments/education, etc. for perusal? Thanks. I mean I’d like to vote for change, but frankly, I don’t know anything about you.
