We blame the pushers, the rappers, and the media. The pushers sell them, the rappers glorify them, and the media inundates us with stories of the lives they’ve destroyed.

We clamor for more law enforcement, more government intervention, more community involvement and help from the educational system.

We hear on the radio shows and read in the local periodicals persons expressing their desire that conditions in the US Virgin Islands improve. We complain about the conditions in our schools; we complain about our infrastructure- our roads are in very deteriorated conditions. We also complain about our public servants and the public service we receive. There is a growing climate of lawlessness, people no longer obey basic rules of the road and other traffic laws. We complain about the inconsistent enforcement of our laws; when at all. In the criminal justice system, where prosecutors go to court unprepared and judges are too lenient with convicted criminals. Our constitution, any constitution needs not be more than about twenty to twenty five articles. A constitution, as I understand it, is a document that lay down the principles by which a people will be governed. Based on the principle set forth in the constitution that laws are made and codified in a code. Unfortunately not too many of the present delegates seem to understand what the scope of a constitution is. I have been to a meeting of the delegates to the constitution convention and my impression confirmed my suspicion, the delegates had not done their homework, they did not do much, if any research of even reading on the concept and mechanics of a constitution.
