The abrupt resignation of Dr. Mercedes Dullum from her post as Commissioner of Health surprised some, and came as no shock to others. Her short tenure in the post has raised intense speculation as to what could have forced such a swift and emphatic departure.
Well we can't know for sure, but the recent audit of the Medicare program in the VI might have had something to do with it. To see what she was facing, and understand how the inability to fill out a form has cost the Territory hundreds of thousands of dollars, click here.
The Grand Jury that has been impaneled in the Virgin Islands is focusing its investigation on Sen. Alvin Williams, reliable sources have confirmed to CIF.
Williams, a St. Thomas representative whose legislative office was raided at least once by federal authorities, is the Chairman of the Human Services, Parks and Recreation Committee and, prior to the office raid, was the target of public controversy surrounding allegations that he had used his office staff and resources to obtain an online college degree.
Speculation is rife about the depth of the investigation and the individuals who are being called to testify. Considering all that has transpired that we believe warrant investigation and action, we can only hope that those who are hearing testimony hand down indictments that may be the most effective method to begin to repair the tattered shreds of government in the Virgin Islands.
More than half of the contributions Delegate to Congress Donna Christensen has received in the current election cycle are linked to a Washington contractor who is the subject of a federal inquiry.
According to an article today in the Washington Post, Christensen has received at least $37,000 from contractor Jeffrey Thompson, who is suspected of using “straw” or phantom donors to evade contribution limits that are set for candidates running for office. His operations have drawn the attention of Federal authorities.
According to the article, Thompson’s accounting firm Thompson, Cobb, Brazilio and Associates, has 189 contracts with the federal government, worth $17.1 million. The company has done some business in the Virgin Islands, auditing grant funds awarded by the U.S. Department of Education and the Federal Highway Administration. TCBA recently advertised for an accounting position based in Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands.
Recently, Christensen has urged the Federal Election Commission to investigate the election system of the Virgin Islands, citing public discontent with the way the Board of Elections in operating. Perhaps this current development will hasten their acceptance of her request.
As many of you heard recently, CIF President Michael Springer, at left, delivered the first in a series of radio announcements that will target specific issues and offer analysis on our most pressing concerns.
The feedback on the comments was extremely positive, so CIF will sponsor then as often as possible, and we thank those of you who have already donated! But airtime costs money and we're seeking your help.
If you'd like to help keep our voices on the air, please donate whatever you can using the PayPal button below. We thank you in advance for your support.
Be sure to click on the link below to see the latest iReport on our crippling corruption and scroll down to the comments. A wolverine posting under the name of "Bornyah" is trying to tell the world that the information that's getting some widespread attention is just "half-truth" from "disgruntled" people.
Nice try, Keep on reading and posting people. And send these links to everyone you know!
This past weekend, one of our CIF bloggers started a campaign to post the stories of our discontent on CNN iReports. If you scroll through the blogs from the past three days, you will see that this campaign has grown some very long legs in a very short time.

Although light and fun, the awards appear appropriate.
I enjoyed the laughter. We need some light times now
with so many problems.
It pays more not to stay in school
They forgot one award the Short Yellow Bus Award.
This award goes to none other than Mr. Daryl “Mousey” George. For his short stint as the Director of the Virgin Islands Fire Services During the absence of Director Victor Browne during the Christmas season 07. You see this proves it is whom you know not what you know that counts. Mr. George’s most notable education achievement is his General equivalency Diploma “GED”, after several attempts.
Imagine ,Governor John DeJongh rescinded the letter by Director Browne which named Fire Chief Glenn Francis, a 27 year veteran and quite possibly one of the longest serving Firefighters as acting Director and replaced him with ( power hungry, 3 time GED attempted, union traitor and can’t pass the initial fire supervisor test) Daryl George.
How about the dubious “Two-Face Award”?
Springer’s true identity.
Come on, Michael, get your butt in here.
I enjoyed the awards and look forward to the State of the Territory Adddress on the 22nd. Keep up the good works. Oh, I would have like to see more awards for Senators.
I’m very much loving these to website Mr. Springer, hope you and your organization continue to steer the course by keeping us inform.
Thx.
This website would be worthwhile if it had more visitors.
I want “Springer” to answer the questions about his true identity. I see supporters who act as though they are genuinely interested in principle, but look the other way when questions about the “principles” are raised.
How selectively biased. You’re just as phony and hypocritical as everyone.
The site is worthwhile enough to keep “Your Worst Nightmre” coming back on a regular basis. If your worst nightmare keeps visiting a site that he/she/shim deems worthless, what does that say about the life that he/she/shim is leading. People living worthy lives don’t find themselves indulging in worthless activities time and time again. There’s an small “x” located in the upper right hand corner of your screen. If you think the site is so worthless , utilize that “x’ and chnge your browser’s home screen to another site. You Sexual offenders never cease to amaze
Miserable Fool Lifetime Achievment Award: to Your Worst Nightmre for making http://www.act6905.com ( a site he/she/shim deems worthless ) your Home Page. Take a computer class or two at UVI. Hopefully, you’ll learn how to not spend your time watching this “worthless” site
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! Gotcha!
You have no idea who you are up against, how many, how powerful, or what’s coming your way.
What are you afraid of? Verdel spoke up right away. Where’s your bullocks, playboy?
Answer the questions. Just answer the questions.
Your Worst Nightmare, let’s be harmonious. Let’s look at the bigger picture regarding the crisis in the Virgin Islands and leave the pettiness out. What is your suggestion for decreasing crimes in the islands? How can we get our elected leaders to be more responsive? WAPA, any suggestions? It is harder to be constructive than to be destructive. As DEMMANSAY, if this site is offensive to you, then ignore it. But when I log on I would like to read condtructive comments and suggestions. Peace and blessings to you and your family. UNITY! LOVE! PEACE!!
Cecil,
My sense of principle will not allow me to ignore someone who promotes transparency and accountability in the name of solution when by default they are neither accountable nor transparent themselves.
Regardless of what Dum Man Say, presentation of himself or members of the organization to be something they are not is not petty. Their personalities, character, values, or lack thereof, provide the bedrock to the believability of the organization.
When advocates attack critical issues those that created the issues come under attack in the process. The potential for reciprocal attack is then likely. The first line of defense? The integrity of an organization’s leadership.
This organization has none, but would rather attack those that demand answers from them.
Know God, know Peace. No God, no peace.
Despite the attempts by David Cover to try too ruin my character along with obstructing the efforts of Cruzan In Focus from demanding accountability from our elected representatives, my name given to me from the time of my birth on September 7, 1975 is indeed Michael John Springer Jr.……My mother maiden name is Helen Chinnery and my father name is Michael John Springer Jr. I was born on the Island of St. Thomas but grew up on St.Croix.
To all of us here who blog on Cruzans In Focus website I will like to sincerely thank each and everyone of you for your participation, however we must remain FOCUS when it comes to bringing about change on the pressing issues that have plagued the Virgin Islands for decades, particularly St. Croix.
Thanks,
Yours truly, Michael John Springer Jr.
Announcement: ‘Pierce the Veil’ and ‘Your Worst Nightmare’ have taken a vacation from this site. Most of the irrelevant comments have also been unpublished. To prevent them from distracting from the issues in the future, all new comments submitted will experience a delay before appearing.
On another note, we have 2 new ads about to be released and we’re cooking one up for the senators (we’ve heard they feel left out). We’ve been paying attention and realize they’ve already begun campaigning. Do they realize the situation with our cost of living? Do they pay bills? WAPA is burdening the community, the GERS unfunded liability continues to grow unabated and the surplus they used to justify passage of Act 6905 seems to have disappeared. There appears to be a serious disconnect with reality. The ads will debut here first. Stay tuned!
Thank you Administrator. I was disturbed by those two
bloggers writing irrelevant information that had nothing to do with the crisis we are facing. This site must continue to be relevant, forward moving and clean. At times we may poke a little fun for laughter but never with hatred, bile or a lack of human decency. Let us never pierce one’s soul. That is the lowest form a human being can take. In my 73 years, I had never met a human being that low and nasty. Than you Administrator.I will now continue to visit this site.
