The Legacy of Act 6905

Guest Opinion by Arnold & Jill Lange

A year later and the pall of 6905 still hangs over the entire 27th legislature and the cowardly senator who is holding the repeal of Act 6905 hostage. It’s not just the salary increases, it’s the increased retirement benefit burden on the GERS system while cheating emergency responders, a $600 million bond approval to fund GERS without public input, $15 million loan guarantee to a convicted felon, illegal contract payouts and finally funding the minimum $25,000 to government employees, but no method how to pay it to the employees.

Russell, the most vocal of the 6905 group realizes it was a mistake but will defend the action to the end, because legally, he can! Using his radio show and the senate floor along with his cronie/puppet Serville, to accuse recall signatories as members of the KKK, is inexcusable and unforgivably racist.

Roosevelt David in his invocation asking for the ‘wisdom of Solomon’ got the Democratic Party agenda to take from the poor and give to the politicians instead. Can he be trusted as a highly paid consultant for Rural Telephone Finance Cooperative to recommend financially sound decisions for ALL in the territory?

Serville, hopefully two can ‘eat steak and lobster, make babies and afford suits’ on $85,000 a year. How will you survive financially on a shoe salesman’s salary and not living at home come next November?

Encarnacion, yet another Democrat who continues to do little or nothing as STX Administrator after his lack luster performance as a one term senator. Voting for undeserved increased benefits knowing you had an $85,000 job waiting in the wings for you. Failing your elected senatorial job did not prevent you from getting another position within the government.

Berry, not voted in as Lt. Governor, only thought of her retirement. Let us not forget her infamous ‘let them eat cake’ speech on the raises chiding those who were vocally against them, asking those senators to ‘sign over their increases’ to a charity if they did not want them.

James a no show for the session. Enough said. Now he says we, the voting public, need to ‘get over it’ and ‘just move on’. Come November we will. At least 4,500 voters have spoken loud and clear on the recall petitions last March.

Baptiste, who stated, ‘would you have us eat out of garbage cans’? Well, better the 15 senators than the 25,000 children living below poverty level in the territory.

Hill, a senator who once was a shoo-in for Governor and now 6905 put those ambitions to rest for good. Voting selfishly made the difference in a promising future in government.

Turnbull could not wait to pass 6905. Beyond the mysterious bags of cash for personal antiques, 6905 adds an additional million dollars for his retirement paid for on the backs of the taxpayers.

The Democratic majority in the 26th legislature was more like the Gestapo and Taliban as Russell and Serville keep saying about the 27th legislature majority.

Too bad the actions of the 26th legislature will be the downfall of all the senators in the 27th legislature come November.

One Response to The Legacy of Act 6905

I wish the voters think about how they are constantly being cheated by the senators. In my opinion, all of them are guilty of blocking the repeal of Act 6905. Unfortunately, free food & T-shirts and the promise of reparation will make some forget the actions of the 27th legislature. Hopefully, the electorate will pay attention to what you have stated in your letter. The truth hurts and some voters operate in a state of denial. In a small cummunity like ours, popularity is a big factor in an election. People vote for who they know, despite a poor record of performance. For example, they voted Turnbull to be a delegate to the 5th Constitutional Convention and re-elected delegates who previously served in the 3rd & 4th Constitutional Convention.Don’t be surprise if they re-elect senators of the 27th Legislature.
